Problem is now, bar GKN and Janssen, can we really afford to sell anyone in the next few weeks before the European window closes. All that deadwood we wanted to ship are now going to become vital parts of our team again. Cant loose Llorente or Sissoko so essentially we will be right back in the same position come Jan. No that anyone good is ever bought in Jan.

Maybe N'K can finally come good and save the day? No? Ok.

I think the formation, and players used within, will give away a lot with regard to where Pochettino most wanted us to strengthen and with what types of players.

Let's put it this way, I'll feel much better about life going forward if I see a 433 with Eriksen/ Dele in the 8/10 pivot, anchored by Dier, than I will if I see a 4231 with Sissoko in CM and Nkoudou cutting in off the left.
If Alderweireld knuckles down and earns his spot again I will be shocked if we don't go back to a 3 at the back.

This was a time for Levy to adapt to the new TW as the market had changed and I see that as a failure for all the business acumen he has.

There are so many if's that depending on the answer will result in the window being far from ideal (best case), a big fuck up or a totally monumental fuck up.

If Wanyama and Winks are not badly injured and can quickly recapture their best form, then we are not as bad off in CM as some are making out. However, if they will miss games, struggle for form and then end up having surgery we're properly short in CM as Dembele will do well to play 2 consecutive 90 minute games.

If Toby is fully committed and is able to make peace with Poch and the coaching staff then we have one of the best back 5's in world football (Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Toby, Verts, Davies). If he is to be sold to European club before their window closes then we're pretty short at CB, especially if Dier will be needed in CM every week. If he does not play and goes for £25.4M to a rival next year then we've fucked that right up.

If our 9 late returning WC stars can all hit the ground running, and Poch can manage their fitness throughout the season so we don't hit a wall in Feb/Mar, then we will still be able to compete on multiple fronts. Especially if Lamela and Moura get to contribute more this season to make up for Son's international commitments and to give Eriksen and Dele a breather from time ot time to manage their seasons so they can peak in the business games next spring.

If Poch genuinely buys into Levy's strategy and lack of incomings and agreed it was better to buy no-one than a third choice then things are not as bad as they could and probably should be. I fear that if Man U come knocking once Mourinho has capitulated (he must be their top target for succession) Poch will not hesitate to join a club that will back him properly with the main objective to win the league and CL.

Best case - our squad is fully fit (and stays fully fit), harmonious and can challenge for 2nd/3rd and the latter stages of the CL.

Lloris
Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen
Trippier--------------Wanyama------------------Davies
Moura----Eriksen----Dele
Kane

Subs / competition from: Vorm, Aurier, Rose, KWP, Foyth, Amos, Skipp, Dier, Dembele, Winks, Lamela, Son, Llorente.
I don't want to think about the worst case as it is too close to being the actual case. :(

Errmmm... what? Loaded the club up with half a billion of debt and have regressed ever since they bought them.
Think ManU have done alright as a club since they took over in 2005. I don't know all the ins and outs of every clubs finances.

I'm not disappointed at all by the window, so I'm not kicking Levy for that.

However if Poch is upset, and Levy is responsible for that, then I definitely have an issue with the wee man.

I was gutted when we lost in the FA Cup semi-final last season. But I was encouraged by Poch's ultimatum immediately after that game and, as such, I expected that we would take a massive step forward (on and off the pitch) this summer.

Right now, I'm confused. Poch is saying something completely different now, he's delighted that we've managed to keep the squad together and everything is rosy. Yet, from the outside looking in, we are in exactly the same spot as we were last May - and if anything, our closest rivals (Liverpool) have strengthened considerably.

I'm worried that we've lost the chance to really cement our place at the top table in England and in Europe. I'm worried that we will go backwards this season - and while we will still be competitive, it won't be enough to (a) actually win something, and (b) to keep hold of our best players next summer. All it will take is a few concerning words from Kane, Eriksen, Alli, Lloris, Sanchez and the likes of City, Barca, Madrid and Bayern will be circling like vultures.

So I'll give Levy the benefit of the doubt. I'll trust Poch when he says that we will be improved on last season. And time will tell if they are right.

But if we lose a few games and the blame is put on players being fatigued or that we lack quality depth, then that's not an acceptable excuse. Because right now, having failed to buy or sell anyone for the last three months, both Poch and Levy are saying "don't worry, we got this".

The time to prove it starts Saturday afternoon.

Haha I was just finishing up my first season save that I started a few months ago. I was saving it for a few weeks to replicate what they were gonna do in the window... Gonna just buy Kovacic and Martial instead and see what it would have been like haha.

Im not happy like most of you but to call for Levys head is ridiculous, this is the club I dreamed of supporting, champions league nights in 60000 seater stadium, he's to thank, no doubt in my mind.. However I do think we have to look at the director of football role again, tying up young players and handling signings, he wanted it perhaps because he knew himself it wasnt his strength, Poch will probably have a think again too I would say, he clearly wants final say on all transfers which I suspect is why we didn't have any panic buys, hopefully we can come to an arrangement that he'll be happy with. We've really got to..

Trouble is, we lose an AM(usually Son)
I can see a similar setup to what England went with. Son/Moura play the Sterling role, Eriksen (Winks/Dembele) instead of Lingard alongside Alli (Lamela/Sissoko), Dier (Wanyama) in the holding role.

Its our best line up moving forward.
