Grealish definitely off the cards.

Haven't heard anything on Martial all Summer different circles and all that.
Thanks, mate.

So, big few days ahead for us securing 3 players. I'll try and reserve my auto-pissing the bed until the close of deadline day. Until then, the hound is getting mild but frequent beatings

100% he will be pissed if we don’t get any of his targets. He has already said we need to make signings.

The closer we get to the end of the window the harder it will get as no one wants to sell without having time to get in replacements.

Almost certainly have to buy from abroad at that point but that messes us up on the homegrown problem (unless we look at Jadon Sancho).

Grealish was the one signing I actually expected us to make. Was keen as well as he is a footballer rather than another CM plodder.

Expect nothing now.

I’m sure right near start there was definitely going to be 3 players in and Poch wanted them by pre-season?

Now with 11 days left, who will honestly want to part with their prize assets?

Known targets seemingly crossed off the list then. Unless there's targets we don't know about, i'd prefer us to sign nobody now than second rate crap we'll only end up trying to shift next summer. I know it makes for a boring window but it's for the best. I'd rather we gave the youth a chance to step up.

Grealish is a Villa supporter. Why wouldn't he give it another season to see what they can achieve after coming close the season just gone. And maybe Levy saw an opportunity, he played the game but it hasn't worked out as Villa are in a better position than a few weeks back.

I agree things don't look great at present but it ain't done till it's done. Like has been said a million times, yes we need to strengthen - as all teams do - but we do have a decent squad who have been with each other for a while now; it could be worse.

Player-wise, I'm not at all unhappy with that outcome. The wider implications of what it may mean for the rest of our targets this window though; well, that's a different story... :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

Why are people so depressed? There are probably targets on our radar that haven't been revealed yet.

Revealing the names of those targets could definitely bring a bit of positivity to the window - having said that, it depends who the players are...

Could be someone like Joao Mario, for example... :X3:

So we can choose to look at this in one of top ways. Either our transfer strategy has been an unprecedented shitshow this window, or it’s going according to plan and we can be very impressed with how tight the club has managed our communications.

Due to the fact that we haven’t had any substantial links in the press to a CM, which all logic dictates must be our main focus, I’m still inclined to believe option B. However, its a very high stakes game that Levy is playing, and as we saw last window with Balde, it doesnt always work out for him.

Big worry about that is the ripple effect on Poch and our key players. You can't afford to stand still these days. They will be disappointed just like us fans. That could even translate to the pitch. I think there was some of that early last season with the wages issues.

Some of those key people, Poch, Kane and Eriksen especially, are top class and will have plenty of offers. The club needs to show that they are somewhat capable of matching their ambitions.

We've even had players go public admitting their thoughts on transfers and those of other clubs. It's not even hearsay.

The concept in what you said makes sense but you can't afford to do it these days. Levy and co need to pull a rabbit (or even a Rabiot!) out of the hat.

If the 3 reported AM targets are all off the only other one that makes sense is Pulisic, who is reportedly available for £65m.

A lot of crap hitting the fan. Daniel is going to have to do what he hates. And I cannot see he has a choice. Could effect more than his friggin principals. So again, I say; fasten your seat belts. I let others come out with the failed deals. But there is hope and assurances to appease our gaffer. That is what I am holding unto. I believe he will deliver, as he has no choice.

What a terrible window this has been. Even in our worst seasons, we used to be active in market. This window tops everthing in worst possible way. On one hand, we have players still in holidays, some who are in preseason on treatment table, then we have likes of Janssen who we cannot move out.

Missing out on Grealish trying to be cute is the worst mistake yet. No idea whats going to happen now- but this is not what I expected when we move to the new stadium.

Sorry, rant/moan over

Had anyone thought that the Grealish deal is dead because we have lined up a better option? I'm sure there was ITK before stating that Grealish was a back up.
