Sonny has had a better couple of last seasons but Martial has a much higher ceiling. I love Sonny, I'm glad we have him but he can frustrate at times and when we come up against the bigger boys I'm not expecting him to win us the game (he has scored some important goals). Martial has the potential to become a match winner, a game changer - see his first United goal vs Liverpool. Many United fans believe this too and it's why they are so unprepared to sell him.

Agree with you to some extent, however I don’t think we should be going for an Out and Out CF. The winger/ST combination should be what we are after so then we can attract bigger names due to an increase in potential game time.

If we spent some decent money on a quality back up striker then it would work. Llorente isn’t really suited to the way we play and Vince , well he just wasn’t good enough.

Son (under Poch) is better than Martial (under Mourinho). Martial has the potential to be phenomenal under Poch, and is much more skilful than Son. Having them both in our squad will make us very strong. And remember, Son has to do 2 years national service in Korea after next season.

If son does need to leave in the next season or two so he can serve his military service, then having a backup/someone to push son just now is better as it gives us more squad depth/competition and a good player to swap in for son if/when he goes.

I think the difficulty would be trying to convince a CF of high quality to come when he'd know he'll always be playing second fiddle to Kane. Even if Kane went 10 games without a goal it's unlikely he'd just be benched, and Poch very rarely, if ever, plays 2 up top.

I agree which is why a back with the versatility to play wide as well is the perfect option especially one as good as Martial, I'm mystified why some people don't rate him to be honest.

I can't see us getting him. That was our bargaining chip. They will be adamant that he goes nowhere else other than Europe. Our only hope I believe is if Mourinho demands he is sold so he can free up funds for other signings.

Herc said if we dont get Martial then we will go for a 22 year old for 20mill in Europe....so we go from a 60mill player to a 20 mill player....i hope that is wrong as the word ambition means something different to me
