We shouldn't sell Dembele because he's useful to have around the squad. He's not worth much anyway so if he wants a silly contract we should just let him run his current one down and replace him the following summer. From now on though he's not a man to be relied on week in week out, for me he should just be kept on to take on Sissoko's role.

If we sell him we'll need two midfield players and I think we'll struggle to get one never mind two.

Banega and Dembele. Now that's got everything you need in Midfield.

The exact combination to compliment each other's game and offer all the attributes a Midfield should provide.

You'd have the dribbling, driving strength, ball retention of Dembele, and the tough tackling, tempo setting, pass-master guile of Banega.

Forget that Banega's 29, Modric is 32 and Banega is good for another 3 seasons IMO.

I'm happy enough with vorm wishing to stay he is decent back up although I thought we may of seen Lopez come back one of levys under the radar job's.

Am I right in thinking he's earnt some decent reviews back at Espanyol ??.

Also...isn't he supposedly Real Betis bound this summer.

I'm not sure to be honest and you maybe right I always felt it was a shame he went but obviously we couldn't agree a fee.

Any word on how Lopez has performed?

Edit: great minds, aye @cider spurs

Ha ha...Yes indeed. Read an article the other day stating he was doing well considering age. Played alot of games this season, in fact, looked like 1st choice for Espanyol.

That's the reasoning as why he won't be joining Spurs. He wants to be 1st choice keeper at the club he signs for.

I actually think we're in a fortunate position this summer. Previously the struggle has been 'our first team is so good but our squad needs improving' and we've by and large responded to that, but it's not something you see pay dividends on the pitch so much. Now, with Rose, Alderweireld and Dembele all potentially leaving, and all at their peaks are our best option in their position, we have the chance to make changes which could genuinely improve the first team.

If we could get, say, Sessegnon, De Ligt and Kovacic to replace those three we'd be overall stronger. The former two because we'd be replacing two players who don't play and don't want to be here with two of the biggest talents on the planet, and the latter would be someone who offers much of what the departing player offers but with more dynamism, pace and vision to improve our attack.

If the wishlist includes 2 acms, a lb and a ch (contingent on Toby) assume that means no perceived need or fit in Poch's style of play for a cm/dm who can run the game from deeper. Or there isn't one we can afford, or there is a belief that there is more to come from Dier....

Can't remember if he had one at Espanol or Soton?

Notwithstanding, no complaints from me re: style of play, just have a personal preference for a Pirlo type (although, as above, availability and affordability might be factors also).

De ligt and sessegnon wont make us title winning team... I think de ligt will struggle in premier league and he is miles behind toby in terms of development

Maybe it's something to do with Toby being 11 years older or whatever it is. If he struggles as much as Sanchez he'll be fine.

You cant replace toby with 18 years old and expect same output. That's what my point is. If toby didn't make us title winning team, how come de ligt will make sure of it? We are certainly going to be weak for 2 or 3 seasons and need to wait for de ligt for 3 or 4 seasons in epl.

And when de ligt have all the experience and in his peak year, he will go to madrid, barca or city ... Rinse and repeat

Eurgh, he’s not good enough. With Lloris wobbling we need a promising number 2 whom can step up to the plate when needed. Vorm gives me the jeebies when ever he plays.

Literally one of the hardest position's to fill particularly if you want a promising no2 which is why when you look at our rival's backup goalies they are struggling to have what you desire as well.

It would be interesting to know if our scouts view any of the current crop of England u21 keepers as having what it takes to succeed at the top of the EPL. I didn’t realise until recently that Walton was owned by Brighton as he’d have been a good option.

Problem is that promising keepers need matches, they're not going to get better sitting on the bench.
