No mate you hope they may go for it because that is what you want. Don't under estimate the feelings about Hillsborough that is still present

Rail seating would've prevented the disaster, so i'm not sure people are going to be vehemently against it. It's clearly safe, in fact its safer than standing in seating areas.

Another thing that would have prevented it is, as today, limiting access to the stadium so only the correct number of people can enter. With real seats you still have a strict capacity (together with the correct physical infrastructure to prevent surges etc.)

I still wouldn't get too excited for safe standing - according to Premier League rules all 20 clubs have to vote in favour of introducing it if the government changes the law to allow it. It's still highly unlikely that Liverpool and Everton would vote for it given public opinion in the city.
Are you sure? All the other rule changes only need 2/3rds in favour (so 14 if all clubs vote).

I think you're very wrong on this one.

This thread on RAWK is an example: https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=302578.0

It's a thread started in 2013 but still kept updated with any progress on introducing safe standing, and any news towards safe standing is reacted to positively by almost 100% of people. And from what I saw, those against it are not basing that on Hillsbrough.

Exactly this, standing is not dangerous, over filling the section is.

Seems to me -puffs pipe- that hillsborough would have been prevented if the entire uk establishment, police, politicians, lawyers and the rest didn't treat humans like dogs, murder a load of them, and then spent 30 years lying about it in court, and some die before they could be thrown in the English Channel like the filth they are.

That's the real issue here. Preventing systemic abuse murder is solved by giving people absolutely zero chance of letting the police murder them, not the style of seating or standing.

Precisely, in the 70s and 80s and probably before clubs took cash at the turnstile and just kept filling the sections up.
Clubs were believed to under report attendances for tax reasons and quite a few turnstile operators were making a fortune especially at Wembley.

Link please (I did try but couldn't find it)

It's under stadiums &sports arenas. Then go into under construction. See sandro has posted a link but just in case you lose it.

Nice little site with some very informed people (just go into the uk infrastructure threads and see what some of them come out with, i have no idea what they are on about but they go deep).

Internet. People act like twats everywhere. Probably a bit less in there (in the non football threads) as it attracts people who are genuinley interested in architechture. Still a few numpties though (pretty sure i'm one of them).
