Not read any comments so not sure of the general consensus on here....

My opinion - the 1st leg cost us majorly. We just didn't turn up and appeared not give a shit in that game. And I despise that more than anything, when it seems the players aren't that bothered. Liverpool away was similar, the lack luster, slow style of play. The players and Poch are to blame.

Tonight - I cannot fault our effort and desire to try and win. I love it when I see that the players care, either by their efforts on the pitch or clear disappointment at going out. Because I bloody care! Alli made it difficult for us. A full on leg breaker tackle. He made a mistake. And he will make more along the way. But he is an unreal talent who when he's at Barca or Real we can all appreciate what he did for us.

Even though we've been dumped out by Gent, I personally felt that tonight we tried.

And come the end regardless of win, lose or draw, to see us damn try means a lot to me as a fan. All I ask is they give it their all, every game.

I would definitely agree that Levy expects top 4. I would rather we won a cup but if people thought that the club's expectation was just winning a cup then there would still be a lot of moaning about a lack of ambition.
Modern fans I am afraid. They want top 4. I am a little bit long in the tooth so I want a trophy. Different horses for different courses. The manager has no choice. He has to listen to Daniel san.

we have a number of inconsistent players that we haven't upgraded and as a result will always get inconsistent performances and results. recruitment last summer was poor and unfortunately I feel we will just fall short in the league and cup. top 4 will be tough.
the formula to beating us is there for all too see, defend deep, frustrate and rile us and then hit us on the break.

Our recruitment every summer is poor, because we never address glaring deficiencies.

These players are athletes, I'm sick and tired of people trotting out the same old shite that modern players can't produce twice in one week, it's bollocks!!! Until about 20years ago players that smoked, boozed it up, partied and shagged like rabbits played in much smaller squads and 60 - 70 games a season, today's players are far too fucking pampered!!

The level of competition wasn't as high back then though either, these players are trained to within an inch of perfection these days, excellence is expected and the margins at the top are so fine there is no room for mistakes, it puts a lot of pressure on them.

You can't compare the past to now, it's a different time and like it or not, humans take less risks now, it's a much softer generation frankly, that being said, I do agree they are too pampered these days.

I'm afraid this cycle of failing which you mention show no sign of abating it's something that we have to live with constant under achieving.
Glimmers of hope every now and then and just when we think that mentally we've cracked it we revert to being Spursy.
Catalyst for this season was the Chelski game last season, we haven't really been the same since.

Pace is the other on the couple of occasions that erikson broke through on the right I thought he was playing in clogs which is the only reason why he was so fucking slow.

Which side was he playing for?

So disappointing. The only good thing about tonight was Leicester taking all the attention away from us.
Achieving a top 4 finish this season would be impressive. But ultimately, so what. If we can't compete in the Europa league, what's the point.
I feel like our season has just gone.

Don't get me wrong, Levy has done a lot for this club. But he has cost us Champions League and now Europa league
He is only in this to make an extremely large amount of money off the name of Tottenham hotspur F.C . How can he spend 60 million on three players that have not improved us. He waisted the Bale millions. A good footballing chairman would of spent all that money and put us right up there with the elite. But everyone Daniel Levy doesnt want us up there with the elite he wants to keep us there and there abouts build our hopes up, and once again let us down. ENIC are going to make a huge amount of money when everything is complete and they sell the club for millions and millions. How have we only had one striker for three seasons now, he will not pay the wages thats why we will not improve from where we are. Ive supported Spurs through some bad times and good times. And it has been good for around 8/9 yrs but we are hitting the brick wall every season now same old same, that is down to our chairman who doesnt want to take us to the top becauce he will not pay the wages and until he/ENIC go im affraid everyone where we are now is where we will be as long as they are at the club. You tell me 160 million waisted on shite players that amount should of won us the Premiership. Sissiko 30m Jansenn17m, NOcanDO 14m, that should of bought us title challenging players. I fear we are going to fall away hope not, every season our february are shocking no news that all seems to happen after poor Jan transfer windows. I.e SAHA,NELSON when we were flying. And not only that ive been a member for 16yrs and this season i refused to jion as they took 127 loyaty pts off me that i had built up travelling all over europe to watch Spurs, the same happened to the lads i went with now we cannot even get any tickets at all through the membership scheme great effort Mr Levy ram you!!!!!! i love Tottenham but until you treat the supporters in the right way with the amount of money you have coming in, i will not attend another game until you and ENIC have gone.

Irrespective of how the ref performed, we should have easily won the tie today, even with 10 men for more than half of the game, as we were the better side.

We have to blame ourselves - Alli's reckless tackle, Dier's poor judgement in playing the offside trap, and our attacking players wasting the numerous goal scoring chances that we had.

Our season is not over yet though. There's still a trophy to be won.

We were very poor in the 1st leg. Equally we had very little luck tonight.

Still plenty to play for, an Fa Cup win would be fantastic and we've as good a chance as any for top 4. In fact our chances have increased greatly tonight.

We're all hilariously taking the piss out of United and looking at how far they've fallen, whilst finishing in the top four and actually achieving nothing, whilst they say "ok maybe we can't always finish in the top four - let's win a cup even when we're shit" and continue to fill their trophy cabinet.

Ours remains bare as fuckery. We'll soon lose our proud record of being the only team to win a cup every decade for the last 70 years to them too as they're the only other team who've done it and we don't look anywhere near winning anything yet.

100% agree. The game is about glory.

We've made a lot of strides forwards under Poch. He's revamped the squad, brought in an ethos and belief we didn't have, and got us in the Top 4 while challenging against financial juggernauts. He is the right manager to take the club to bigger and better things but he's not perfect. Generally his approach to cups have been disappointing.

I despise Mourinho but what he does very well is he targets the League Cup. It's the first trophy to win, the easiest [while every other big side sees it as an inconvenience he sees it seriously] and then they move on to bigger things. Man Utd have a chance to equal our trophy haul in the last 20 years on Sunday - in the space of a year - a year most people will say and the league table says we have been better than them in.

I wanted the Europa League badly. We've got two UEFA Cups. They are proudly part of our history. It's a competition which would see how we fare against European opponents having bombed in the UCL - and we come unstuck against the 8th placed team in Belgium. That is a disaster.

This club needs a trophy to get the winning feel and set the standard. Who are we to turn our noses at a tournament when we've won two in 20 years? Also for all the talk about the fixture pile up and how now our path for Top 4 is clearer - that's a cowards approach. You don't get a trophy for Top 4. And more importantly don't underestimate the impact a long run has. The more games the better. Players get in a groove knowing there is silverware up for grabs. Training is more intense, competition is healthy and the fans are gripped.

We have one more crack with the FA Cup.

I think Alli is fast coming to a crossroad in his career. His rise has been so rapid that he is in danger of pissing his undoubted talent away if he doesn't buck up his ideas as it seems all the attention and platitudes have seriously gone to his head. Most of the time he is anonymous, looks lazy/disinterested. It's time Poch got a hold of him and told him a few home truths about where he is headed.

Only one problem in all that which is if we beat Millwall there is a chance that the semi final will be at Wembley, so maybe at the 209th attempt we might win at Wembley.

Well, we've not lost to an English side at Wembley this season, so there's still hope.

Okay, now that was actually amusing.

To be clear: I rate Son. He does lots of things wonderfully, but his finish tonight (when it really mattered) was a let down.

Big hug.

If you've played football you have some sympathy with both Son and Kane's misses. The direction of the ball, their body shape and the distance from the goal forced them to have to hit through the ball. This reduces the size of the sweet spot compared to if they'd been able to side foot it. They were both slightly off the sweet spot and it ends up looking like a bad miss. It's 60 or 70% chance at best and needs a near perfect contact to pull it off.

i agree with the pampered, and all that they did and on shit pitches, but now days the game is so much faster and the players have to carry a lot more extra weight (the big fat wallets:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:) it takes it's toll.

they play quite a few less fixtures, yet the injuries of today are so much a higher turn over, though due to the intensity and amount of pressure now days, and full of johnny come lately s, the game has gone "Money instead of Sport".
