Followed Spurs since 77/78 season. Attended matches since 1981 and season ticket holder for a decade from 98 - 08. Went home and away for several seasons during this period. Packed up my season ticket after season 07 / 08. The sacking of Martin Jol was my main motivation for quitting and a realisation that ENIC were rinsing the most loyal supporters. I have attended 2 Spurs matches since then. A 1-1 draw away to WBA in 15/16 and the 1-6 away at Leicester in 16/17.
My view on ENIC is that they initially mislead the most loyal Spurs supporters with the '5' year plan and rinsed them accordingly with jam tomorrow. However; their overall management of the club during the 18 years they have been here has generally been nothing short of remarkable. Levy; for all his faults has managed the finances brilliantly. Spurs are a slick operation these days and are on the cusp of being very successful. The turning point was Poch but we owe a debt to Martin Jol, Harry Redkanpp and Frank Arnesen in that order.
I watch every Spurs match at home these days. The cost is prohibitive but it is the travelling that really deters me. I did my time and have some great memories; my favourite being the away win in the F.A. Cup quarter final at The Boleyn in 00/0. Rebrov's finest hour in a Spurs shirt. I also contributed regularly to a Spurs fanzine at the time.
