    The beginning of the end...

Rose to blame for the Toon goal, just watching the guy get away, he could not have been in a better position to react. But like the Villa goal he ended up on his arse. Too little , too late.

Needs to play this weekend before we play the Gooners, and in case Eriksen leaves.

If we don't make top. 4 will Harry stick around.

    Player watch: Christian Eriksen

If he goes we will miss him, but no player is irreplaceable. We can adapt our style and possibly achieve a better outcome. Apart from the possibility of him going for nothing there are two additional concerns. Firstly how have we allowed CE, Jan and Toby to all be one year away from walking...

    Player watch: Danny Rose

Rose is ok when he faces a wide player who hugs the line, mobile players that cut in lose him too easily. He backed away from the crosser for the first goal, and was out of position for the second. Davies is a much better, more adaptable defender. Winks hardly made a tackle or an interception...

Like Rose who played no part in pre season, and was reportedly trying to sign for Watford. The move to drop Jan was always on the cards when he played just 45 mins in tandem with Toby in per season. Ninety mins against Villa at home could not be that taxing, he had completed a full pre season

I can understand leaving a player out if his fitness levels are down, but why bring on two midfielders when you have a presumably fit, player of the year, top line defender sitting on the bench. Was Skipp a better bet than Vertonghen in the circumstances.

Hearing Jan was not on the bus. Is that right.

Some suggestion that he was going to be on the bench, but he was a bit annoyed, so he was removed from the squad. Sorry if already posted.

Ex-Player Watch Player watch: Jan Vertonghen

Sanchez was fine in his first season when he played more often than Toby. He was injured at some point and in and out of the team. He is still relatively young. Anyway he was not our worst defender on the weekend. Rose should have got across quicker and when he did get there, he over ran the...

I seem to recall Jan putting the regular left backs to shame against Dortmund.

By that token why play Toby or Danny who are more injury prone . Rose avoided pre season to find a new club.

The guy who runs the SO website heard something about a possible contract issue, he dismissed it until Jan was omitted.

He wanted to find another club because he wanted a move, so presumably he was not prepared at that point to play for us
