Feels like we've had all of our eggs in the Tosin basket for a while now. Can't blame him for not accepting a back up role. I wonder where we go now?

Hincapie is apparently on the market for a decent price, but not sure how well he profiles for Ange.

Not confident we'll be able to find a better back up CB for I'm a hipster ball this window at this rate. Feels too late for a big money move and links are thin on the ground. Schurrs links have been quiet for a while now.
We absolutely have not had all our eggs in the Tosin basket, it's been common knowledge from the moment he was linked to us at he beginning of the summer that he wanted to leave Fulham to get regular game time. All the 'links' have been lazy journos regurgitating the same names becuase they haven't heard anything else (we still get linked to Lenglet ffs!).

Hmm well prior to the recent ITK I'd assumed this deal was dead that reason - he wanted a guaranteed first 11 spot. Given Romano is basically saying the same as Delaney doesn't seem like anything has changed and it's very unlikely he'll be coming here unless Monaco completely pull out last minute.

I'm guessing we'll go Johnson and a non-HG centre back like Schuurs then.

We don’t really “need” a HG CB. We are going to be full on Association Trained HG regardless (Forster, Madds, Davies, Johnson, Sess, puts us one over the European limit of 4 regardless).

Hopefully Dorrington or Phillips give us a decent shot at a club trained HG CB coming through in coming seasons.

we do absolutely need a competent CB for depth. Whether HG or not.

Davies and Sess will be gone in the next 12 months. Have to plan ahead.

Issue is more the non homegrown quota. We need to shift 4 to get 1 in. 3 obvious ones are Lloris, Reguilon and Ndombele. Then we can just replace either Dier or Sanchez with another non homegrown. Sell Hojbjerg and maybe we can also get a centre forward too. Also have to consider the long term though because Sarr and Udogie will be registered not long down the road. It's not going to be easy having all non homegrown centre backs. A 4th choice centre back at the very least should be homegrown really. Maybe something we can address next year as I suspect 1 of Dier or Sanchez will see this season out and then we replace them next summer.

Have we not released Lloris already?

Most of the deadwood are out of contract in 1-2 years so it sorts itself out regardless. The solution this year is not to leave ourselves short and worst case somebody doesn’t get registered. So be it. Sucks to pay them for nothing or have to pay them to go away but it is what it is. The Kane profit should give us all the financial room we need if we have to eat 10M of wasted wages.

we shouldn’t buy a CB we don’t want just because he’s HG. But we absolutely need another CB we actually want.

There's also been multiple ITK reports on Tosin as recently as this weekend. Can't think of any other CB mentioned for a few weeks now.

Not exactly. We might have Perisic and 1 of Dier or Sanchez still here who will be replaced as non homegrowns by Sarr and Udogie next year to level it back (assuming we let 3 go this window). So we could start next window having to sell before we buy. I haven't suggested we should sign a centre back we don't need. Only that a homegrown one would be ideal. Also there's no way Levy is paying someone who isn't registered. He might take a hit to release someone though. I think he's going to do everything to avoid that though so I can't see us signing until we get the numbers down first.

Not wishing to state the obvious, but they are essentially the same cost - paying off a contract is the same cost as paying someone to the end of their contract.

Not sure how it works especially if a player has some bonus fees added and whether we would just cover the base wage. Unless they negotiate a cost between them. I still don't think Levy would do it anyway, he'll sell first and then buy when there's a space available.

I can only tell you what i'm hearing from my Fulham friends who would use the Fulham equivalent of this site, with their own itk sources, and they've been pretty clear all along that Tosin is moving because he wants to play regularly and that he definitely wants to go to Monaco above all else. That's been there take for a good while, the weekend stuff seemed some half hearted talk about swap deals involving either Regillion or Dier but nothing remotely concrete that's been backed up anywhere.

It really is starting to feel like we're not getting another CB this window.
I would say it just feels like no one has got hold of who our CB targets are, a bit like no one knew about Vicario. The journos have been trotting out the same old list, Tosin, Lenglet all summer, yet neither has been a credible target for ages. there are hundreds of CB's paying in top leagues , i'm sure there must be at least one that interests us !

It’s all gone very quiet, and that’s worrying.
Reality we need 3 players still, depending on outgoings.
CB, CF/RWF and if Hojbjerg goes a CM.

Lyall Thomas said on LWOS he had heard Spurs already had a CM lined up if Hojbjerg goes, but said he didn’t know who. Early ITK was around Douglas Luiz, but latest media speculation is Amrabat or Paulinha. I had wondered if there was something in the South American ITK that tied in with Redondo stories in the media.

Going onward with Romero and VdV backed up by Sanchez and Dier really hasn’t got us any further forward than last year. My hope is Sanchez is tied I to the Johnson deal, and then that’ll trigger us to bring someone in. Can’t see is paying for Tabsoba, don’t think Adarabioyo fancies coming. So maybe going back for Schurrs?
