Regardless of what people think of Gio that would be an unbalanced swap. Wed need to go into the market for another AM if we sell Gio
After a lot of good moves in the market in the last two years and our window so far being a decent one it feels like the end of this window really has no clear plan at all and it’s quite worrying. These attacking additions we might make could make all the difference to whether we’re in and around the CL places or scrapping for conference league

Hopefully Hojberg, Sanchez, Spence, Reguilon and Ndombele
Yeah, but surely it's a bit crowded in the forward positions if we get both of them?

LW: Son, Fati, Perisic, Gil?
CF: Richy, Son, Fati?
RW: Kulu, Johnson, Solomon, Gil?

8 senior players for 3 positions, I suppose it could work but still

Potentially Lo Celso goes the other way on loan? Who knows.
He's been linked to them a lot, wouldn't be surprised

Apologies if someone has already said this, but I wonder if he could provide a different kind of option for Maddison, as well providing competition for Sonny.

From what I've seen, Fatty [sic] is a pretty good creative passer and dribbling ability at pace is useful in any attacking role (especially in a system where players swap positions so fluidly). Ange has said that he likes to have different types of players as options for each position, so that would also track with my purely speculative suggestion.

Barca want to insert a buyback clause that won’t happen with levy. They’re open to a sale with a loan . Gio could sweeten the deal . But right now hoping to reach an agreement on loan aswell as securing the club with a say if he does well option/obligation.
Based on tonight's dour performance, I wouldn't be surprised if this is suddenly on fire and prioritized. Shoot, I don't even care if it's a season long loan. Help us bridge the gap between now and next summer's window. As there is so, so, so much to do in terms of squad rebuilding. Rather a strong short term answer, than nothing at all. As it's very clear we need quality depth in the wing-forward positions that are quick, decent finishers, have excellent technique, and can dribble. He ticks a lot of those boxes.

Im not mad at Fati, But on one condition, it's not a straight loan with zero way of getting him in if he does well. I would hate for him to be lights out and boom back to Barca and we are stuck here with the same problem again.

Gil I don't think is going to make it here. Son is 31 and clearly on the decline and Perisic is also getting on a bit. LW is a position we need to look at and Fati is only 20 and could make that position his for the foreseeable.

Honestly, selling Kane and bringing in Solomon, Johnson and Fati makes no sense to me. None of them start, none of them consistently score goals and none of them massively fit the profile of an Ange winger (apart from Solomon, who lacks too much quality in other areas to be a top class starter).

Really weird planning, especially if we are indeed struggling with the HG quota.

Johnson will likely go straight into the side, or at least very quickly. Fati if he stays fit and plays anywhere near as well as he did prior to his injury will be starting ahead of Son before the end of the season.

All are young with potential to be coached by Ange

I've got a sneaking suspicion we might see Son as the number 9.

I think you have to get out of this mindset that we’re replacing Kane with one player to do what Kane did.

Solomon (24)
Kulu (23)
Johnson (22)
Fati (20)

All three are younger options. We have got to get back to that.. just as we did with Son. He wasn't a world beater when we bought him but developed into one here.

Ange has always said he may not replace Kane with a natural 9 as well.

I didn’t remember - and then I also read this: https://www.skysports.com/amp/footb...signed-toby-alderweireld-ahead-of-southampton

- which I don’t think is the same as what you said
Yeah to be fair that deal was an awful lot messier than how I had remembered actually.

That said though, the article still argues that Southampton had an option to buy him.

“It may not be the end of this because Southampton may still pursue some of that fee from Atletico after they missed the deadline to remove Southampton’s option to buy,” he said.

I'm not saying I want a 30 goal a season pure striker to replace Kane, I'm aware that we'll need to soften the blow of his departure by getting in a few players with different characteristics. Maddison was a great start.

I just don't think Fati, Johnson and Solomon give us enough of those characteristics, nor do they give us enough quality.

Safe to say I don’t think people structure options like that any more!!
