I know its been said countless times including by me...but he really does seem like a Vertonghen regen. I thought that he was great today.

had another good game. looks comfortable on the ball, even against the press.

surprised he has settled so quickly.

Has he lost a duel yet? I thought I read before he joined that he was weak in 1v1 defending and he seems incredible at it.

He’s one of those defenders where right now, I’m so calm when he’s called to action. There will be ups and downs but man, you can see the talent and fit for the style of play.

We are doing well with the incomings this summer, I think we should do more.

My only very slight criticism of him is that sometimes he looks a little hesitant on the ball when under pressure. But each game he plays he grows into the game more and more and by the end of each game he looks like a rock. That sliding tackle was amazing and would’ve given him lots of confidence to hear his name sung straight after. I don’t think we’d have kept 2 clean sheets without him.

Very assured display overall and his partnership with Romero has the hallmarks of a brilliant one.

Early days but I'm astounded at how good he's been so far. I thought he would be a LOT more raw than this.

One things for sure, Ange knows exactly what he wants in a CB. He looks tailor made for this system and style of play.

Fans already compare Van De Ven to Jan. Rightly so.

But, for me, his ceiling is far more higher than Jan ever was. Whether he will reach that is another question.
Van De Ven still looking to be playing within himself. Almost controlling himself every time to not drive forward. If he can actually master it interms of timing and able to connect defense to attack, Van De Ven's game will go up another gear.
What makes me think is ceiling is higher is simply because of the shear pace & turn of foot he has than Jan.

Early days, but he is already shining like a star in PL

His reading of the game and positional awareness is above his years. Very happy for him to be a regular starter and watch him grow. Even if he makes some mistakes he looks like he's going to be some player. 2 clean sheets now with Vicario, Romero and VdV and still not conceded while all 3 are playing in the league as didnt concede while Romero was on at Brentford. Foundation.

Looks similar level to Romero, who was Seria A defender of the year and one of the bigger reasons why Argentina finally won Copa America and World Cup again. Great signing.

Loving Micky already. Seems to have calmed Romero down too.
Got the lot, can step out of defence decent passer and seems unflusterable (a new word just for him)

Our new signings (or old new signings) have all hit the ground running under Ange.

There was one moment where he was facing our goal with the ball, being closed down by an attacker and just did a little shuffle, like a body weight shift that threw the man closing down off balance and brought him the time to turn and break forward.
Simple but very clever.
