Yeah I actually think it’s our strongest depth position tbh. Lo celso will clean up in this system
Wouldn't be surprised at the least if he makes the position his own while Maddison is out. Competition for places is a great problem to have. Benefit with Maddison is, he can play on the right as well, so could even push Kulusevski out when he returns.

Maddison had regular niggling injury issues at Leicester so this isn't a big surprise.

Shows how important it is to have a high quality backup for him in the side and Lo Celso is exactly that.

Given how skint Spanish clubs are I don't think the money we'd get for Lo Celso next summer will be much lower than this summer anyway so think we'd be very wise to keep him around even if an offer comes in.

The offers we've got for him over the past few years have always been pretty pitiful tbh and well below his true value.

What injury record?
Last season he often missed the odd game due to niggles.

Missed 4 random games throughout the season plus he dropped out of the England squad and missed Leicester's games in December and Jan due to a knee injury.

Only missed 8 league games in total so nothing to be really concerned about but worth keeping an eye on.

Ange seemed to be wanting to look at as many players as possible these past two games , so i had a feeling GLC was going to get some minutes the upcoming games anyway - obviously i would much rather he wasn't getting minutes due to an injury, but equally i'd have confidence he won't let us down (although i must say that i've been hugely impressed with Maddison, he's been even better than i expected).

Fingers crossed it's only a slight sprain or similar, i presume it's from that challenge straight after the Romero penalty appeal ?

He's played 30+ games in every premier league season. Hardly anything to keep an eye on.

Regarding Gio as Maddison’s deputy, a lot of faith being shown in a player that last started a Premier League match for us in October 2021

An external solution would have not started a PL match for us at any time...

Don't see how this argument works. Since then we have a 180° change of system including a new manager, who had a close look at him since the season started. As we hear Ange wants only players who are committed to the cause it seems like Gio is on board and he has shown in pre season its worth to give him at least another six months. He obviously has the tools to succeed. (only issue to me if he can stay fit)

Alright...Just saying he got more niggles last season than in previous seasons and its something Leicester fans often commented on. If it wasnt for the world cup he would've missed a lot more games.
