The thought that we'll probably never see Kane score another proper goal for us is quite sad.

I wonder how the kids are getting on, for a lot of them this will be their first football heartbreak and those are fucking brutal!

Kane's last match for us was him in his least effective mood. We've seen it before occasionally, the Kane trot I call it.

So, its made this move a tiny bit easier being reminded of disengaged Kane. Anyway, the right move imo, he needs a new challenge. The jerries will love him and I wish him all the very best.

It’s anyone’s guess who will be captain. Personally I like both Bentancur and Bissouma as good potential captains.

I would also have Sonny as vice captain no matter who is captain.
Definitely agree that Son is better suited to vice-captain. Captain, I'd have given it to PEH if he was a nailed on long-term starter. Realistically, I'd like to see it go to Bents or even Deki.

Is a weird one for me, we’re losing our best player who obviously I didn’t want to leave, yet I’m more excited about this season than I have been in a long time. Ange is giving off such a good vibe and the football looks like it’s going to be so positive I’m finding it impossible not to really get behind it. It feels like a completely and utterly fresh start now and I think we’ve needed that for years.

Will be sad to see him go but at least we have had many good years from him and will be commanding a decent fee, more so than if he were to stay for longer.

Thanks for the memories Harry. Now onwards, and hopefully upwards. Let’s reinvest for the future.

Its sad he is leaving, someone else said it earlier too, I never connected with Kane like I did with Sheringham or Keane or my personnel fave Lineker. I do wish he would stay, but other than explaining to my little girl why her fave is leaving us, I'm not really crying into my cornflakes on an emotional level.

Yes - we've all seen this a few times. The worst I can recall was towards the end of Poch, game vs. Watford at home. Kane was captain, barely moved, obviously checked out, not interested in Ben Foster's blatant timewasting, no leadership... maybe this is making it feel easier - the sense that Kane has really always been about Kane. It feels different to losing other big players over the years.

Although with all that said, keeping him, showing progress, and convincing him to sign a new deal would have been the preference. But can we even believe this line that he would have been happy to do so if we had continued to progress on the pitch? Lots of conflicting emotions with this one

What a player. His ability and consistency has just become normal for us and we will undoubtedly miss him but life goes on and I do think selling him for a good fee now is the best outcome for all parties. Whether we spend the money well or not, it’s irrefutable we are better off with £100m to help Ange build the squad he wants.

More importantly we avoid the continual circus of will or won’t he stay and which club he will leave for next year. Itk said Ange only wanted him if he was committed long term and Harry has decided he wants a new challenge so we need to back the manager and move on.

I don’t buy the line we have wasted him. We are playing in arguably the most competitive era of football ever and in the worlds most difficult league and for large parts of his career we’ve done so near the top. The board have clearly made mistakes but now is not the time for recriminations or anger, it’s time to properly support the team and look forward to the future. Thanks Harry and COYS!

9 years is an insane amount of time to stay in one team's 1st 11. I’m never really bothered about someone leaving just worried about who replaces them.
9 years? Steve Perryman spent about 15 seasons as a first-team regular, Pat Jennings 13 seasons and Gary Mabbutt 16 seasons. If you look at other clubs, you'll find plenty of players who spent 12-13 or more seasons as regulars in the first team. 9 seasons is a fair bit longer than the average these days, but that's about it.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about these days (i.e. the past 20 years)

A sad day but I came to terms with this 2 years ago when he agitated for a move to City. He was gone then in my eyes and the additional 2 seasons have just been a bonus.

I'm optimistic for the future with Ange and his style of play. Of course it all depends on Levy and whether he allows the football people to do their jobs so slightly wary.
