The real question is have Bayern stumped up the necessary readies or have we capitulated on the fee?

Either way, it would appear we are close to a resolution to this saga.
Probably a little bit of both - given that I think both sides want the deal to happen.

If I had to guess, I would say the deal will be £100m+ including add-ons, but some of those add-ons won't be met.

Heart breaking…I still cannot fathom why he’s choosing Bayern though when could wait 6 months and take his pick

Daniel wants the money.

We can't really say no to 100mill (if it is that amount) especially in the last year of his contract.

Definitely would love to keep him at all costs but I'm looking at it both ways.

I know everyone has been thinking this - but I don't think it is as clear cut as many seem to think.

First, he will be 31 next summer - it becomes tougher to offer a big sign-on fee, and long-term contract at that age. Second, not all the teams will be looking to add a 31-yo striker - even a striker with Kane's credentials. Third, some of the top teams will be set at striker - so won't want to spend big on Kane.

Its easy to say he can improve any team out there, but its another to assume that every team would be willing to take him on at the wages and contract length that he wants.

Had he stayed at Spurs, I think there was a decent chance that Spurs would have been the best fit for him next summer - in terms of pay, ambition, and spot in the team.

What we do in the next 4 weeks will be the most critical bit of business since Gareth Bale departed - possibly even beyond that.

I dread to think the mood if we fail to even reasonably compensate Kane’s departure and I don’t necessarily mean a striker.

Seems the deal was agreed a month ago when their president came out and said what he said. He wouldnt have said anything if he wasn’t so confident or he would look stupid. Bayern apologised for the leak, but knew it aswell.

The fact he gave up the Pl all time scorer record shows he’s had enough of the clubs ambitions, which don’t match his.

Gutted but the man is an absolute legend and I will probably not see another like him in my lifetime.

bale was never a youth player who rose from our academy, Harry was. One of our own!

It’s not 6 months though, it’s a year. He can talk to other clubs in January but can’t sign unless Levy sells.

Plus I’m sure he still loves the club, despite all the noise, and he knows going now means we will get more cash than in January.

He wants to win a trophy, it’s as simple as that…..

It's got to be a top top player - or two. And not a player that Danny Rose has to google.

I still think we can be a better team - if we nail these signings. But, I am nervous about who is making these decisions.

There's no unique set of variables.

We own Kane as a player, he's in contract for another year. So it's the choice of the club whether or not he gets sold. Not Kane or his idiot brother.

As others have said, actually say the price you'll accept, set a deadline, it's actually very simple and is done very often.

Instead we've had the constant loop of media "Bayern set to offer another amount Spurs obviously won't accept."

It only benefits the buying team as they will likely end up at the price we ask for only it'll get done 4 weeks later than it should have meaning we have to scamper around last minute to get our shit done.

Absolute circus.
Of course this is a unique situation. A player genuinely worth £100m right now but who could go for nothing in 12 months. A player we don’t want to sell but are desperate not to see join another PL club. A potential buying club that only has one shot to seal the deal - and probably a long way down Kane’s list of preferred destinations. A new manager with zero track record with the club, the player or the league (which, it could be argued, is as much of a positive as it is a negative). A top class player with nothing in the trophy cabinet seemingly looking for a move that will guarantee wins. Or maybe he’ll defy all expectations, sign the biggest contract in the club‘s history and stay. I can’t recall another transfer situation like it.

I’m not trying to knock richarlison here but imagine selling Kane and going into the season with a striker that scored 1 pl goal last season and a young back up. I understand that’s simplified but it’s laughable

We are ultimately putting faith in the same individuals who have routinely let us down time and again.
