Im sorry but we really should be buying VDV and Tapsoba without selling Kane. If Kane goes then I would hope at minimum we would sign a good replacement striker and possibly at a stretch get a RWF to come in.
Agreed. Annoying thing is diaby would have been the RWF I would have wanted and he’s gone for cheap to villa.

Yeah maybe but what about the money we are going to need to replace Kane ?

We need to be scoring goals from more players. Getting Sonny fully fit and firing is a good place to start and Maddison always has goals in him. I doubt Richarlison will have as bad a season again. Ange will have us playing completely differently to Conte or Mourinho and he'll be wanting the goals scored to be spread out through the front 6. If Kane won't commit he can go now as far as I'm concerned. It's a huge gamble to see if Ange's style of play meets his approval imo.

Well the Kane sale could potentially completely alter our CB plans and how much we can spend on that area. Especially if we are already debating whether or not we can bring both VdV and Tapsoba in and then a Kane sale allows us to do so.
Ive felt this for the last few days.

Hard to know with Levy as there is ALWAYS that feeling he is stalling to save.

But perhaps we are waiting to see if Bayern do offer 100m because that may allow us to get both VDV, Tapsoba and then another attacker like David or Kudos.

If not then we probably have to be more selective

We should and we will are two different things. We know ENIC don’t have ambition on the pitch, if they did Kane would probably sign a new deal.

So it could be a terrible defence and Kane for one more season or a good defence and lose Kane.

Are we really going to pretend that we are broke and have no money to spend? If we wanted to get both we could. Sure, we probably will need to sell a few defenders but thats more to do with a large squad than budget imo.

yes I think Trix and other ITK’s have pointed out in the past we could push the boat out more if we wanted but that’s not how we operate. So with that in mind if the choice becomes Kane for one season or a good defence that is the question.

Well there is a gap between being "broke" and having that kind of money to spend.

But, I am curious - why do you think ENIC had to invest £100M into the club last summer?

I have to say I'm not greatly enthusiastic over the idea of losing Kane and in return buying CB's, promoting Richarlison etc and not compensating in some sort of way by making a special signing. I trust Ange to have us playing good football without Kane for sure but in losing one of the best strikers in the world and getting a relatively large fee, I'd personally like to see some really promising and exciting links materialising.

Don't need a 30 goal a season striker if we can stop conceding 1.65 goals a game.

At least that's how I rationalise it.

The system replaces Kane just as Pochettino’s system replaced Bale.

We have multiple players who have scored goals either with us or with other clubs, Son, Richarlison, Maddison, Lo Ceslo and others have all been either productive with us or other clubs.

Ange will play AM’s so like Arsenal or City those players will pick up more goals. Kane is incredible but so was Bale but alot of our players have have not been used remotely correctly. Our middle and front has a lot of talent. Where we lack talent is our backline, we have to repair it and Kane is leaving either this season or next.

We have to at least consider it.
I’m sorry but not bringing in another striker would be ridiculous. Richarlison I has a lot to prove here and seems to be very injury prone . Son could be away for 6 weeks faith his national team and that’s if we get the son back of 2 seasons ago, going into the new season

According to reports VDV and Tapsoba would cost about £80m (if accurate). £40m a player is almost the average going rate nowadays. It is also our most important area to strengthen and one we have failed to address across the past few windows.

If you want to bring up the funds from ENIC I could also ask where that mystery £50m (it was supposed to be £150mill overall) disappeared to?

We can agree to disagree and tbh neither of us have proof either way. Imo we just arent pushing the boat out when we could. Selling Kane and using the excuse that it had to be done in order to sign 2 CBs would be just that... another excuse.

If you don’t trust either Richarlison or Son for the 1 ST role then you’d need to sell 1 of them as well and replace. Richalrison is like a spare player at the moment if the club doesn’t trust him he will need to be replaced. I am sure if Kane goes we will get another attacker I just don’t know if that will be a ST or wide forward.

We may feel we only need another £10m (this is a complete guess) to make both CB deals happen. Then I honestly don't know but maybe the club feel someone like Toney and then a decent spend on a long term Son replacement is the way to go forward for now. I honestly don't know what's happening or what our plans are moving forward with this. I really like Ferguson from Brighton but they would want a lot.

No way can us spending 80m be dependent on selling Kane.

if that is the case then the club is up the shitter.

those lot down the road spent more than that without European football.

its more do we have an appetite to spend rather than the means to surely.

The club isn't exacly strappped for cash is it?
That is the £80M question.

Again - if the club were flush with cash - why would it need the cash injection from ENIC?

I think the answer lies in two parts - we don't have the cash to spend that many people assume, and Levy is not going overextend the club financially. So, I am sure he has a minimum cash reserve that he will maintain for "emergencies" or some other downturn in cash.

We would also have to anticipate lower revenues from this season - being out of CL and Europe altogether.

love Toney, quality footballer but that’s a risk. You’d have to hope he has control of his gambling habits.

Yes I think this is most likely.

People keep on saying things like we can afford to let Kane walk on a free, we are a rich club, we have the big, new stadium etc. which is true. But I think those people are dreaming if they think it will have no impact on future spending.

That’s just my opinion of course, but it reflects the way ENIC have operated during the last twenty years as far as I can tell.
