I can see an even more extensive overhaul to the left side (CB, and LB). Yes, we already have Davies, Udogie , Reggie and Sess… but I think only one will remain after the dust settles. Our young Udinese lad. You need a Laporte beside a young kid like that to provide leadership and support. The other left sided player I was impressed by last season was Antonee Robinson at Fulham. They play a fairly high line, and is versatile. And has a good amount of experience under his belt. Plus, I doubt Fulham would ask for a huge amount of money.

My apologies for going a bit off topic. it’s just that the left side of our defense last season was our Achilles heel. Might need more than just an LCB.

I'm not sure the European football is the problem many people think it is. He is much more likely to see it as a temporary hiatus and knows we'll be back in Europe one way or another next year. It might have mattered a bit more the state we were in over the last few months but I think they'll see it differently now.

Along with a new starting GK this signing is top priority for me.

CB, and especially LCB in a possible 4-at-the-back is probably the one position where we can improve the most relative to cost.

If I had to choose between signing Laporte and Maddison, it would be Laporte every time.

This signing would prove to the fans and more importantly Big Ange that he will be backed.
Hopefully this happens.

Absolutely, it would be so nice to make a signing that both improves the starting 11 and one that’s needed! Hopefully our links with city will help get this over the line

Agree mate if we get Laporte and Raya that will be a great start to the transfer window.

This.

Added to the fact he would have won every trophy available in England and most likely the champions league too. I can't see him being too upset about missing out on Europe for one season.

Let's hope he fancies a move to London :D

I can't think of a more ideal player for us to sign at LCB than Laporte. There are younger, quicker options but what we need is a blend of experience, ability and leadership to also bring the best out of Romero. If we could add Ndicka on a free as well then I would feel pretty happy that we would be all but set at CB.

The trick would be whether any or all of Dier, Sanchez, Rodon and Tanganga leave. I could certainly see Dier staying out of those 4 but in truth all 4 probably need to go. Rodon would be the only one I think could amount to something and even that would be optimistic.
