View from the lane lads, mainly James Maw and Jack Pitt Brooke, are saying they would be very surprised if he's here next season. Obviously only journos but JPB does cover us exclusively for Athletic so likely to have some sources.

Just pretty shit having this continued uncertainty over the main person at the club. I'm probably wrong but can't remember a top club ever having this sort of situation before (that doesn't involve another club trying to take the manager) where 3 months to end of season they don't know if manager is staying or not.
Bielsa was like that but yeah not many do. It's a tricky one though because it's hard to criticise too much for Conte not committing. It would be easy for a manager to agree a 3 year contract and take 3 years worth of pay out of it. At least we're protected if things don't work out then we can change manager without paying off the current one. I do think the players should only be focused on this season anyway. I really don't think it's a big issue for them as is being made into by the fans. Nothing is certain anyway, a manager could lose a bunch of games and the fans turn leading to them getting sacked all of a sudden. There's no point worrying about next season yet.

Football managers will be questioned until the end of time. They will be overly criticized and overly praised, loved and hated.

This is a fans forum and people are going to question the manager and they have every right to. If people didn't care that bloke wouldn't be on 15 million quid a year for coaching a load of young men to kick a football about. If they didn't care this forum wouldn't exist.

My personal view of him is he's a top manager but that doesn't mean I have to like or can't question what he has done or is doing.

The football has by and large been awful and yet somewhat effective. Sure we have beaten a poor poor Chelsea side but we also totally folded at home to the scum and got thrashed by a rubbish Leicester team.

So we're by no means the finished article and after the week after the City result proceeded with the worst luck I've ever seen there is no way I'm getting carried away.

One last thing regarding him is you earn adulation and love. He wouldn't commit before the illness and passing of his friends so he has brought some of this on himself (not that he cares or knows). But yeah it works both ways. It's ok saying once he gets the players he has shown we will get results ( I agree) but in the meantime he won't say or show he is staying that long and he is producing some Mourinho-esque football which is a tough tough watch

I'm going to take it game by game and hope that whether he stays or goes ( I think he is gone) we achieve something special this season because no matter what you think of his future he is clearly driven to win at all costs.

Has anybody ever failed that course?..??
No Idea. I've done the FA level 1 and Uefa B license part 1, and I fail to see how anyone semi competent could fail either of those because it's basically just about putting the required hours in. I'm not 100% sure what the criteria is for either the A, or Pro license tbh.

AFAIK pro license requires some time working under a qualified manager (internship of sorts)

And people who play FIFA manager - where do they stand in terms of opinion? Surely any poster who has taken Torquay United to the champions league final must be entitled to have their say?

I took non-league Gateshead to the CL final after turning down Chelsea after winning League 1. We still had only had a gate of about 2000 but playing Madrid in extra time and the program crashed. At that point I gave up football manager games.

Haven't played it for a while but do they simulate package holidays as well now?

I said the team seem more relaxed in the last few games, but that wasn’t having a go at him, just an observation. It could be down to any number of things and probably down to the clear the air meetings they’ve all had. The reason we’ve had better results is because we have changed things tactically. Plus we’ve played West Ham and Chelsea who are terrible. I actually think Sheffield United away will be a bigger test than those two on Wednesday.
I see where you’re going with the opposition stuff but neither of those teams nor Sheff Utd are terrible at all.

Every game in the Prem is fkin difficult, and we need to play well in all departments to take tgeee points off anyone

Back to Conte...

I haven't had a problem with his tactics or choice of formation. My only quibble has been his reluctance to rotate. I'm not talking about Spence, so much as refusing to drop Son, and not proactively rotating in Skipp and Sarr to give PEH and Betancur some rest. Perhaps Richarlison's niggling injuries prevented him from being used as a starter sooner, but it seems like he had been cleared for a while, and only got his chance because Son picked up a minor knock. Also, my understanding is that overuse and fatigue can increase the likelihood of injuries, even if there is also a mechanical component (like twisting a knee awkwardly), so maybe Betancur's injury wouldn't have happened if he had fewer overall minutes. Indeed, if so much of our overall strategy is too grind out wins over out opponents, it would make more sense to keep our players fresh and healthy by rotating more frequently.

Can't remember where I read it, but AVB failed his pro the first time and Chris Ramsey (Spurs coach at the time AVB failed) was the assessor that failed him.

It's literally true though. We still aren't a great team and nothing has changed tactically all season. I can only say we have been more competitive for second balls recently, which is important. You all cry now but when we next lose everyone will talk about how we are bad again. The fact is that the performance level has been fairly consistent for a while, results will always vary. I was very happy with the win yesterday but I won't let that cloud objective analysis.
Not trying to be a prick but I got dogs abuse for saying this a few days ago… we are still a bad side lol.

Yep. The baseline performances all season have been under par and underwhelming.
Stellini/Conte, doesn’t matter.
We ain’t winning shit playing so defensively under either of them.
And we ain’t winning shit with a back line including Dier, Davies and Sanchez.

Season over after tonight.
