The difference for many of us - I think - is that it’s looking almost certain that Conte won’t be here next season come what may. If Conte returned from his recovery period and signed a new contract it would affect my view on whether or not he should be given that time and backing. But for as long as it appears he’s off in June anyway, we need to be looking for his successor.
Agreed. If it is Pochettino who gets the job in June, I’ll be fuming. Not because he isn’t the manager I want but because we would’ve wasted 5/6 months sitting on our hands wasting time when he’d return tomorrow if given the opportunity.

I’d bring Poch in now tbh.

They are taking over until Conte is back. I haven't seen anything to say Conte is gone for the rest of the season (might have missed it)

So his 2 coaches take over and continue his work
Well they got us playing great stuff vs City and neither of them are recovering from a major operation so no qualms with Mason and Stellini taking over until/if Conte is able to come back properly.

I will, just got back from my morning swim about to do my yoga session, meditate and wim hoff. I'm good.

The day I let the internet effect how I feel is the day I need to look at my self .

Im happy for you.

Just remember that whilst this place might not mean that much to you, it’s the only place some of us have to enjoy a good discussion about the club we love. You can probably do that on match days, the local pub, with your mates etc. some of us don’t have those luxuries so this place is all we have.

If we choose to ignore certain people who aren’t here to add anything constructively, leave us to do what we please. I promise we will afford you the same respect.

We don't know how long he will be away with his illness and it is not like the club is firing on all cylinders with this current coaching staff.

If we lose at the weekend Spurs will be forced into a change, crucial part of the season and too much at stake.

If anyone thinks we can drift until the end of season they are mistaken.

We won't know, but I'm sure the doctors have said to rest for x amount of time, or want to see him back at somepoint.

The club will be aware of a time scale

I think Poch would have been more than happy with the financial backing Conte has had.
This is the thing, current spending would be enough for Poch. He can actually coach players to get better too. I'm more than happy to see what he can do now.

I think the level of financial backing Conte and Poch require are vastly different. Conte seemingly wants ready-now, experienced players. Which is another way of saying he wants players he doesn’t need to put the hard graft into coaching.

Poch would want/need players with very evident potential that need proper coaching and guidance to help them reach their potential. We failed Poch in that regard too many times during his time here, E.g. lowballing Villa for Grealish. Someone like Alex Scott would thrive under Poch, imo.
She's nearly 40 now isn't she? Can't imagine she'd be up for the high press.

Just a small reminder, there’s a next manage thread for all the Poch, Tuchel etc related posts.

Let’s try keep this one clean and move on to the discussion around Stellini and Mason being in charge until Conte returns. What does everyone expect to see?

I’m curious to see how Stellini fares. We looked great against City, but then again we often do. But it is very sad that it went this way, what a waste.

Agree and see where you're coming from but if there is a chance Conte might agree to stay on next season then I suppose the club are backed into a corner as we are still all to play for on 3 fronts so ousting Conte now could cause issues financially and to the squad.

For me as you say it seems very very likely he WONT renew this summer in which case if Poch is available now then I'd love for us to go and get that done now so Poch can have a few months to work with the team and also to plan for summer rather than it all being last minute as usual but most likely scenario is Conte/Mason/Stellini see out the end of the season then Conte parts ways with us mutually this summer and returns to Italy.

But we have no real LB, we have 1 CB who can play in a 2, we have no real 10 (kulu has played there). Not sure it would work at all with poch without signings.
For now he could play Davies LB, Romero and Lenglet can play in a back2 and Dier and Sanchez as back-ups, Kulu can be the n.o10 or even Perisic could do a job there if needed or even Kane and Richy up top.

I think it wouldn't be perfect but it could work but I think its irrelevant because Conte will be our manager until the end of this season at least.

Am I the only one who wants Conte to stay? I just feel this guy is getting close to putting all the pieces together and just needs the summer to recruit in a few key positions to make us serious title contenders next season.

I’d just like to add that Conte is well within his rights to not want to sign up for longer, Levy broke his word and we all knew from the beginning this would be inevitable if that happened.

Begs the question as to why we even bothered in the first place but nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to the baldy.

But that's different, you can hear that person, on the internet you just scroll past and keep it moving you just dont engage. No one has the ability to make you angry especially on the Internet its all in your mind you choose to get upset . Real life and the internet are two completely different things

Who is your preferred coach? Or would you stick with Conte?
I'm going to ignore the first part mate because I don't agree with what you are saying and that's not for this thread so won't be engaging about it any further.;)

As for the second part I wanted Conte to be backed because he has proven time after time he knows how to get over the line. That's clearly not going to happen as it hasn't been happening so he's never going to succeed here imo. I'm fairly sure no coach is going to under the current regime so I'm a bit 'who cares' about it all tbh. Whoever it turns out to be I'll get behind them, as I did with Jose, and Nuno, and remember they'll be doing the job with one hand tied behind their back.

As I've already posted if their was a solid plan in place of how to properly move forward with some actual long term thinking involved I would be for any good coach regardless of who that was.

Yup. I am very pro-Conte, but, if the club felt this "project" was going to need a new direction, then plans should have been made over the WC break, and made January transfers in line with that new direction.

I would have been happy to see the club embark on a new project - if I had confidence they knew what they were doing.

Having waited this long though, I am going to assume the club does not have a well-thought-out plan, and any move now is just reactionary. If that is the case, it's better to wait until the summer, than make a quick decision now. We will probably also have to deal with a new DOF - and better to sort that, before letting Levy sort the manager's position.

You’re not but no one who agrees will admit to it for fear of joining him on the stake.

I think the ship has sailed in terms of what was promised when he signed vs what’s been delivered so it would just be a waste of time to continue. The club (LEVY) will never change.

I put lots(and I mean lots) of people on ignore, this place is far more palatable because of it.
Yea you do like to mention that you do that regularly too ;)

Anyways back to topic... lets all just get along like good kids and hope that we finish the season strongly under Conte/Mason/Stellini and/or if Conte is 100% not renewing this summer and Poch is the n.o1 target and ready and willing to come back and work under a DofF then lets get that switcharoo made asap and we can all move on with and enjoy our lives.

so why would poch come back if he knows levy and what levys like, is poch foolish to think Levy will change ? or is he just happy to have a job back in the PL?

I think despite all the never saying no to other clubs interest (which it now looks like a ploy against Levy) he did want to leave.

I don't prescribe to the same line of thought that if he comes back it would be a disaster. I suspect he is still in contact with people like Dier and Kane and is on good terms with them (whether that is a good or bad thing). I think the squad suits him. I think the club needs the feel good factor back.

This is from a person who was happy to see the back of him a few years ago and I still think it was the right move. We just didn't make the right appointments after him.

Plus. There is no way despite what I have said that he will come back without assurances from Levy. Sure they will be back tracked on eventually. But everyone needs to remember we wouldn't be getting the Poch who joined us as an up and coming manager from Southampton, he'd be joining us as one of the most in demand managers in world football.

Saying all that. Levy will probably fuck it up and appoint Tuchel and then fall out with him in the first year.

I want him to stay too, but he’s not.
