How long have we been saying the same thing “you can’t legislate for the mistakes we make at the back”. It’s been 3 plus years now. Same shite players need to fuck off Davies, Dier, Lloris and co.

clear the fucking decks and start again. Romero the only defender I’d keep. The rest can go (including Hugo)

Is there something more going on with Son? I just can't figure it out....he is a shadow of the player he was.

Kane looks absolutely fuming...

I actually changed channels as im embarrassed not by him but for him because of what we conjured up second half - he wasnt that great tonight but he worked so hard.

He has always been streaky. Right now he is a liability. He isn’t a tackler and his defensive abilities are poor, he isn’t a great passer of the ball either so unless he is on form we are hamstrung.
But we were playing shit without him too. So is it him or the system?

The reason we lost that game is the same reason we haven't achieved anything in years. Can't handle pressure. It's ingrained in the club. Everyone wilts when the heat gets turned up.

Exactly this, it’s the bloody players! They aren’t good enough! Is Conte stubborn? Sure he is but these players just ain’t it.

It’s a scary thought knowing that neither of our LWB’s can defend. I’d rather play Spence there than have to rely on Sess and Perisic

We were chasing the game, I can understand him wanting to keep one of his best goal scorers on! We don’t have many of them. I know Son is on a horrendous run of form but it wasn’t some crazy sub.
That doesn’t apply to Son. Everybody knows when Son is good, he’s fantastic but when he’s bad, he’s utter dogshit and detrimental to the rest of the team. Keeping him on the pitch is hurting the team and if I can see that, Conte can too. It’s nonsensical.

Seriously…that game has actually made me completely re-appraise where I’m at.
My knee jerk but I think calm reaction:
- we should have won that game, we should quality and tenacity and purpose. There was a plan. The best players make a difference (Bentancur is my God).
- We need more of those players
- We need to stop getting, and holding on to, ‘squad players’. Just look who they brought off the bench. They’re what we’re competing with.
- Conte can get us out of this with the right players
- I am leaning towards letting Kane leave and getting some balance back to our play…really didn’t do much tonight and was trotting around the pitch.
- Son needs dropping but not for good…just some time out.
- Lloris needs to move on but my god thank you Hugo, you’re a legend!
- The only way this works is with a takeover right now

You’re welcome.

Easy in hindsight to say that Conte should have moved to 3 in midfield but the plan was working and once again an error leads to a downhill slope.

Can you imagine Arsenal or United being 2 nil up at HT tonight? They'd have seen it through because they dont have errors running through the team.

Blame Conte all you want but the lack of investment in defence has killed us.

1. No succession plan for Lloris, we've just signed free back up GKs which hasnt even worked. A serious club would have had Lloris' succesor in 2 years ago. Hes 37 ffs.

2. Only one major CB signed in 6 years. This is criminal.

3. Vertongen and Toby regressed due to age but were never really replaced. Yes Sanchez was supposed to be the continuation but when he was moved up to starter, we should have had a replacement (another young HIGH potential CB like Saliba). Not only that but weve known for 3 years now Sanchez hasn't been up to it.

4. Plugging gaps with Lenglet. It doesn't give you assurance cause he wont be around permanently and isn't your main choice. It just screams "we may get away with this" rather than "here is our new CB who we build around".

Total amateur from top to bottom for 6 years. It should lead to sackings across the board.

All our defenders and wing backs bar Romero are utterly useless.

Conte has faults but there's nothing he can do about the complete ineptitude of our back line.

No manager can achieve anything with this defence and keeper.
How about don't go a whole summer adding only Lenglet on loan to the back 3. I'm not having it that we couldn't have got anyone better than this shit.
