As other's have said, if the justification for not going for Porro now isn't financial and is purely that we already have a couple of mediocre RWBs on the books (and another one clearly seen as a prospect by the management) then that's completely daft considering how important wingbacks are to Conte's system.

Emerson and Doherty should just be told to get on with training and fight for their place no matter how much competition they have or look elsewhere whenever they want. Spence clearly isn't ready / isn't getting a chance anyway so his situation won't change whether we get Porro or not.

How so ? Doherty is a specialist right wing back and Emerson is a poor right back.
In terms of balance. Porro is ultra attacking while i feel Emerson is more suited defensively...as much a we all despise Emerson going forward his overall positioning and defensive play is good he even gets himself into good attacking positions but is so let down by is delivery.

Saying that I get where you're coming from... Thinking about it further we need to start all over again on the right. Spence makes sense but his not a Conte signing

It’s not right to do that to someone who doesn’t have attitude or disciplinary problems. Would make us look terrible to future players we want to sign
I read that as why do we need to sell when weve kept players and not played them before. Dunno though...?

Probably naive thinking on my part, but I wonder if Arsenal signing Mudryk - which seems like it's getting closer - will really put the pressure on DL + co to get the Porro deal done.

Arch rivals top of the league signing a top young talent for 80m and we can't stump up 40m for a full back isn't exactly the best PR...

I'm gonna say something controversial here and nobody will agree..

I don't particularly want this fella until we get a Conte new contract.

From what I've read he isn't a normal right back so if we sign him and then Conte is off were stuck with a wing back which means whoever comes in will struggle to justify playing a back four.

Now if Conte were to go I'd like us to look at the Atalanta manager as I love their football but the point is we could see another Emerson situation or before him Doherty with Mourinho

Need to remember Bentancur and Kulusevski both confirmed on deadline day. I expect our moves will be as late (ish) this year aswell. * think we'll miss out on Porro
I think Porto would be a good addition but I’m not sure he, or any RWB is worth the money they’re asking.

I get where you’re coming from but I expect it Conte does leave Paratici will go for a manger who plays 3 at the back. Coincidently Sporting manager would be a great fit…

I think the difference is keeping a player and not registering them as opposed to humiliating them by making them train with the youth team when they’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. I’ve got no problem with the former because the onus is on the player to find another club because we’ll tell them in good time that they won’t be registered but the latter doesn’t feel right to me

I would hope so but I'm not sure the club let's him if Poch is still about.

The difference is that Porro can also play as a RB so it wouldnt be another Doherty/Royal situation

Trouble is we are in a chicken and egg situation...

Does Daniel Levy operate like that? Time and again he ignores what's going on around the club and fails to react to situations just like this. With any luck at all Paratici is in control, but all the faffing around so far would seem to indicate otherwise.

Levy at the club will have the ultimate power on finances.

I think it’s imperative that the next manger we hire after conte should really play a similar style and formation otherwise we risk repeating the issue we have right now, with players signed that don’t fit/can’t shift.
surely that is the responsibility of paratici to oversee for continuity.
If not, then we could do worse than loaning out Emerson because he could do a better job in a back 4 if we still owned him.
But it’s an odd place to find ourselves that we won’t sell a player in case our current manager doesn’t work out.
