Bench players like Eric Dier didn’t play much though.they played plenty of matches though and we're always told that no amount of training makes up for playing actual games.

I think the issues remains with players that were barely used. If they lacked discipline to keep up their club fitness schedules. As training at internationals is most likely less intense particularly at a WC, players would be responsible to keep their fitness up themselves. I am also sure Conte, Pep would have higher standards of fitness and therefore players like Philips who did not play and didn’t fully focus on keep up club standards dropped off…. I suspect there was a slight ‘lads holiday vibe’ also that maybe didn't help them to focus if they were never really involved in the games….. I doubt Philips was fat probably just gained a few percent of body fat that would not take long to lose. I believe though this is Conte more having a dig at the WC in winter and would only rest the players who played on the last weekend of World Cup. Kane is a certainty to start.they played plenty of matches though and we're always told that no amount of training makes up for playing actual games.
I think you are spot on, but the squad isn’t good enough and as a club we perpetually are playing catch up to close the gap against the teams with similar aspirationsI’ve seen enough of him, it’s not the end of the world if he goes not half as good as he thinks he is tactically stubborn, effectively arrogant

Starting to think this to… a positive playing style would have made a huge difference, the vibrancy Newcastle play at under Howe, and Brighton played under Potter, movement, constant possession and movement of the ball.I’ve seen enough of him, it’s not the end of the world if he goes not half as good as he thinks he is tactically stubborn, effectively arrogant
Spot on, he’s paid a HUGE amount to get the best out of these players. But he hasn’t done this season , it’s woefulI haven't seen anything this entire season to show that Conte deserves a new contract, every game is a struggle. We are behind every game and all the players are getting worse and worse.
Let's be a little fair - we sit 4th in the table. With this squad.Spot on, he’s paid a HUGE amount to get the best out of these players. But he hasn’t done this season , it’s woeful
That's fair enough, the problem is we haven't had a single good gameLet's be a little fair - we sit 4th in the table. With this squad.
This squad features two world class attacking players and two more very good ones. Not that you'd know that with the shit this guy serves up. Modern managers like Howe and Artera are doing much more with much.Let's be a little fair - we sit 4th in the table. With this squad.

He is a world class player. We've all seen it. None of the players are reaching their potential, because we haven't had a competent manager in nearly 4 years now.Son has not been world class - or even close - this season. He has had one good half of football all season.
It really was genius to sack Poch just as his style of football became dominant, and then appoint three dinosaurs in a rowFootball has moved on for top sides from the conte / Jose style and style of play. Pep and his super teams/ football pushed it to a new level
