Absolutely mind boggling this still isn’t done.

Not really.

a) Spurs always made clear the naming rights weren't critical to financing the stadium or club operations.
b) Economic climate hasn't been brilliant, first COVID and now resources/cost of living squeeze worldwide.
c) There are benefits to it being showcased with the Tottenham Hotspur name front and centre.

Obviously Spurs would like to get a deal done, but someone will have to pay that top bracket price they want to get their name on the stadium and the club are prepared to wait for that rather than cave/panic and accept any old offer (and potentially any old naming partner - eg Tesco Stadium or something). In the future those expectations might be adjusted, but for now they're playing the waiting game and it's a potential multi-year/generational deal you want to get right.

The idea of sponsoring a great stadium is to get your name out there, people see lady Gaga is performing at the purple pig stadium they get to know about the purple pig energy drink and the name sticks.
As it stands it's Tottenham Hotspur that are reaping that benefit, we're still gaining from it without the sponsor.
I imagine being resident in the champions league will keen up interest too.

Might be wrong but I make it 14 Premier League stadiums have not been smeared with some advertising name , 15 if you also count Brentford Community Stadium, so why bother.
Until the local station and road name are changed which TFL & Haringey council do not seem likely to do White Hart Lane will always remain synonymous with Spurs.

Why wouldn’t you count the Brentford stadium? It’s the G-tech community stadium now.

I've always thought that stadium sponsorship doesn't work and I still stand by that. I'd expand on why, but I'm popping out now to see if I can find some Purple Pig.

I am convinced naming rights is a carrot for whoever wants to buy the club
It’s a valuable asset to have available. I’m sure if the right deal came along the club would do it, but it’d have to be mega money.

For those old enough to remember, Barca never used to have a shirt sponsor in part because no brand was going to be as big as the club and they didn't need the money. In essence they weren't going to just sign up any old corporation just for the cash... When they did, they put Unicef there and paid them the money instead.

Things have changed since those days but the point rings true that there's more to be gained for us right now having the "TH Stadium" on people's lips and in their consciousness. Everyone knows we as a club have this big shiny stadium.. when the time is right, a deal will be done, and maybe even keeping the TH name in the stadium, or perhaps with DL being the clever clogs he is, it'll be the TH stadium for one event, and the XXXX Arena Tottenham for other events.

The naming rights will also feature the opportunity to have the SkyDome Bar sponsored by XXXX - but it's got to be right place, right time. The club needs things to constantly talk about, publicise and use for corporate reasons.. you don't launch your entire product line on day 1 and then you're done... you drip feed.

I look forward to the The London Hotspurs NFL team.. and all the cash that will follow!

(Sorry it’s long, couldn’t remember how to do the spoiler thing)
Ornstein - Athletic
“It is now three and a half years since Tottenham Hotspur moved into their new home, a £1billion state-of-the-art stadium built on top of the old White Hart Lane. But despite chairman Daniel Levy confirming back in 2019 that the club would be interested in securing a “naming-rights deal” with the “right brand, on the right money”, no such agreement has been struck.
That could be about to change. Because The Athletic has learned that Tottenham are in meaningful talks with Google over naming rights for the 62,850-capacity stadium, which hosted an NFL match between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints yesterday.

Google, one of the most valuable companies in the world, has struck a number of sports partnerships in recent years. In March, the McLaren Racing Formula 1 team signed Google to its sponsorship portfolio in a multi-year deal, while the tech giant also has commercial agreements with the NBA and the MLB in the United States.

Tottenham’s stadium holds obvious appeal. As well as hosting the club’s home matches in the Premier League and Champions League — two of the most-watched football tournaments in the world — the ground also stages regular NFL matches and could yet welcome a permanent franchise in the future. The stadium has also hosted rugby league’s Challenge Cup Final, heavyweight boxing world title fights and several large concerts.

Any deal with Google would be a coup for Tottenham too. The club’s average annual turnover is the fifth-best in the Premier League and Spurs already have lucrative long-term arrangements with its main shirt sponsor AIA, kit supplier Nike, plus a sleeve partnership with online car seller Cinch. But striking a naming-rights deal would boost their coffers further at a time when they continue to make solid progress on the pitch under Antonio Conte.

An agreement would additionally be a triumph for Todd Kline, the club’s first ever chief commercial officer. Kline moved to north London from the US and, while working at the Miami Dolphins, helped the NFL side to land a naming rights deal for their stadium, worth a reported $250million (£226m) over 18 years.

Tottenham and Google were contacted for comment.

Kline would deserve a huge bonus if he managed to get Google on board. Not only would that bring in 100m+ (who knows if 200m+) it would get such a reputable corporate sponsor onboard that it would hugely help in getting additional sponsors as they will want to be associated with one of the biggest brands in the world.

It would also help to keep us self sustainable so we wouldn't need to be owned by a state which is a huge deal imo

We have had a lot of false dawns with this before, but on previous form expect the unexpected from Levy, and he was never going to accept second best.
A deal like this, and given the length of the financing already in place would mean that the stadium would pretty much finance itself.

Would be incredible, I’ll be honest I’m absolutely relieved it’s google because as far as I’m aware they don’t have an atrocious human rights records.

Least that’s what my search engine results keep telling me

Imagine our stadium being advertised every time someone Googles anything remotely related to the PL.

Let that piss be boiled.
