No blowing my own trumpet, ok I am, I said we should go for him back in January and Conte would like him, once I found out he was available on a free. It just seemed a far too sensible deal to pass up going for if he was open to it. Can play wingback and in attack. Ticks so many boxes.

With Bastoni that would be too offensive of a back line.

Imagine it’s scenarios like this though that leads to being strongly linked to very different styles of player for the same position.

For example, if we get Bastoni then we might opt for a more defensively capable LWB like Borne Sosa. Whereas if we can’t get Bastoni then we might opt for the defensive Gleison Bremer combined with the more offensive Perisic.

Think this is a sign of good team building and would be indicative of the work being done by Paratici

Considering that we tend to play more teams that sit back against us, I don't view this as a negative. Obviously, we'll approach each game with different personnel and plans but I'd rather we have the possibility of deploying an ultra-attacking setup if need be.

Fully agree. We need tactical flexibility to be able to adapt to different game situations. An all out defense against parked teams and a more defensive one for offensive teams.

Transfer Ticker showing report today that Inter have increased their offer to Perisic so I'd say his agent has done his job and that'll be the end of the story that we're interested in him within the next few days.
I never believed the story anyway.

I imagine we are holding off on Kostic until we find out about this one so hopefully it gets resolved either way soon.

Just a personal opinion but I feel Perisic is on another level to Kostic. The work with Conte only adds to this. However, he is one where I’d have concerns about a significant athletic drop off, given he’s 4 years older than Kostic. He’s a two-footed Kostic who’ll also progress the ball through the middle third. Also has more variety to his finishing than Kostic. Kostic is a pure final third difference maker, which is all the Conte wingbacks really need, but I feel there are no weaknesses in Perisic’s game whereas Kostic won’t have the positive impact in the build up Perisic will provide. The best two options out there though as far as I’m concerned so happy either way.

Ivan Perišić's decision on the renewal with Inter is about to fall. On the prowl is Antonio Conte's Tottenham, very attentive and interested. True track.

If we bring him in I think that's a key sign of the level of power Conte has.

You'd think Paratici would probably go for Kostic. Old Spurs maybe someone like Raum (and likely came short).

I think Perisic is a fantastic footballer and would be very happy if he signed but signing a 33 year old would represent a massive change of tact for the club. I like it.
