Ali G has given his assessment on the Traore deal in his Q&A. Some opinion in there about him as a player, but interesting stuff including that the club insists they never bid on him:

“Fabio Paratici was the major driver behind the Traore talks and has tried to sign the Spaniard before for big money at Juventus.

For Conte, it would have been a conversion job to turn him into a right wing-back, one that some suggest would have been a difficult one for a player without much in the way of defensive ability. Spurs maintain they did not make a bid for him during this window, although talks were clearly held.

The money being spoken about with Barcelona, talk of an option to buy of near £30m in the summer, on top of a loan fee, perhaps suggests why Spurs did not continue to push all the way to the end for the deal. For a player with so little end product, who hasn't been getting regularly into Wolves' starting XI in recent weeks, and one who will have 12 months left on his contract this summer, that's a crazy fee.

The sense throughout talks was always that Wolves were likely to accept £20m from Spurs and all sides thought a deal would be done before the deadline. Barcelona's arrival clearly has changed that stance. I know it will frustrate some Spurs fans, but I'm not sure it's the worst outcome for Tottenham, but only if they make their own moves in the coming days.”

Yeah he's total shit and we didn't want him! That's what we've known all along!

Now where's my bottle of sadness bourbon.

Either he goes to Barca or comes to us. Either way we never have to face him again and for that I will be very grateful!

We'll be back for him with a 10m bid in the summer when Barca can't afford him.

No surprise the player prefer Barca.

Eccleshare says we have alternatives and will be trying to wrap that up but sounds like getting Doherty out needs to happen first.

Although I wanted him, im ok with us not getting him. Without knowing what's really going on, I'm more concerned that we have put too much time into this one. feel this was our safe go to option, without this I'm concerned we don't get anyone in and left with several players not wanted or want to be here.

Player wise I’m not too bothered, personally I thought it was 50/50 he’d be successfully converted into a RWB and wasn’t going to assume it was a given just because Moses was.

If though he wasn’t interested in being a RWB that’s an absurd lack of communication. No idea why suddenly Doherty moving is key seeing as we were seemingly close to buying Traore without that being an issue. Also, if we haven’t got another RWB lined up then all this stuff about Paratici having multiple irons in the fire is nonsense and it is as per pathetic recruitment preparation from the “team” we have in charge of transfers.

Spot on... especially because he chose Barca. Can't blame him really... we just have to hope that we have been working on "back up" deals...

How pumped are you?!

Haha. I mean it’s weird, I fully expected him to join so I talked myself round to it and was interested to see how he’d do at RWB, but I was sceptical to say the least. I just don’t think it would have worked.

I think it’ll be a blessing in disguise missing out on him.
