I can't find a womens thread for the final so I'll put it in here but it's not surprising to see Barca Women being so good. I think the traditional style which teams at Barca play is based on a skillset which is much more seamlessly transferred over to the womens game. Excellent technique, taking advantage of that low centre of gravity. Can see why they've already reached a good standard with that philosophy at the club.

I’m surprised it’s taken such a long time for women’s football to get this amount of coverage. I’m pretty sure the BBC had a few women’s matches on back in the 1990s.

It was proper. Certain innocence to it, definitely less cynical. Fully recommend it, especially with kids as the atmosphere isn’t toxic and players take the time after the game to go over to fans and have pictures taken. The football isn’t the same quality but look at some of the stuff the men’s team have dished up this season and ask yourself what standard do we really expect to see when we turn up for any game?
Can I also add, for the £21 One Hotspur membership each, I can take my kids to the women’s games for free next season. Where else are you going to find that much entertainment for that price? Does Levy even know we have a women’s team? He’d be appalled.

I think if you chucked Man City's men's team in to League 2 their record wouldn't be that good.

That's fucking ridiculous. That's an average of 5 goals scored per game...
I don't think that's true actually, the only way Man City wouldnt win every game by a large margin would be complacency.

It's why I was upset that Spurs didn't really invest in woment's football earlier - it's relatively small amounts of cash to be at the very top table.

Give it another 100+ years of history and this will mostly even itself out.

This should be expected though (in reference to the tweet). The sport has just getting it's bearings, I think in 20 years it'll be super competitive but even before that we'll see a much better balance. Look at UFC they had an outlier in Rousey and it only took a few years for that scene to become extremely competitive.

Absolutely, I think (as always) there is a focus on what it isn't rather than perhaps the huge progress made in the last few years.

Spurs should absolutely go for it with the women's game - share the training ground, scouting network, medical teams etc etc etc - just a complete no brainer to me.

Yep agree completely, it's obvious the sport is on an upward trajectory, it's best to get ahead of the curve rather than playing catch-up. Honestly if I had a young daughter at the moment, I'd be getting her amongst football because by the time they're 20 there could be some serious money knocking about in the game

I wasn't being misogynistic I hope, I was just posting a funny in a place where women's football is talked about.
.
The clip reminded me of similar stuff I have seen down the years at many different levels of football

It's not the post, hell we laugh about all kinds of shit play in the rubbish appreciation thread, it's the title of this thread that's very dinosaury. Like reading back posts in the Spurs women's team thread from ca. 2008.
