Bergwijn has done exactly what we’ve needed though, filled space, ran hard, and crucially beaten players off the dribble to keep possession.
I'm bored of 'fans' criticising him now. He's been in and out the team all season so of course he's going to be inconsistent. He's also been tasked with putting defensive shifts in. If he'd been in City's team, he'd have shown more in attacking sense.

I think Rodon would be good as a left sided centerback with a more experienced and calm CB (e.g. Toby) going forward. Really happy with the shift he put in today.

Yh its what I hoped for most of season, he played LCB for Wales and Swansea, I don't understand why tonight is first time on the left but there we are. As I say I hoped for Alderweireld - Rodon but I do think Sanchez has done well recently so would feel harsh on him.

Doesn't anyone want to see tanganga and rodon as a CB partnership?

Think I'm a bit more comfortable aurier starting ahead of sanchez

confident Stevie B’s time will come. Isn’t quite happening in front of goal at the minute but he always gets in the right positions and as all the qualities to succeed. Think he will be a big player for us down the line

Yes really, he can’t really hold up the ball, did you see how many times he lost the ball today when under pressure with back to goal? He’s no Giroud that’s for sure so I don’t think he’s the type to lead the line.

He generally had to fight against 2 cbs with either overhit passes or long balls as Kane was deep for most of the game. Giroud is one of the best when it comes to holding the ball up so saying that if Vinnie can't hold it like him he can't lead the line is a bit unfair I feel. Vinnie has good hold-up play but he had very few outlets so had to hold the ball up for far too long at times.

I think the problem was Mourinho was playing him out of position at RWF for god knows how many games at the start of the season and it rightly pissed everyone off because it doesn't work. From the left he looks a different player.

Tanganga, Rodon, Sanchez all played well. They are three good guys I feel.....but they need an experienced head out there. Would get eaten alive by a City or peak Pool.

I would like to see them at CB, but I'm not sure it will be this season.

Rodon should be the first name at CB with Toby or Sanchez beside.
Then Aurier and Tanganga can fight for RB

I thought Dele was on the naughty step but he was apart of the team.

I know Tanganga was injured earlier in the season, but when fit, he and Rodon should have been given more opportunities rather than seeing Doherty & Dier playing poorly game after game.

Bad week followed up by an efficient if slightly uninspiring performance. But looking at the positives, its three points away against a team who have taken points off teams we're challenging for top four. Next month will be a defining month for this season, historically the month when we fall away, forget about the LC Final, three premier league games, first away to Newcastle which we have to expect to win, after that home to Man Utd and away to Everton, two games which will define our season, need to get through April with at least 5 points, six be great, seven or nine be fantastic. But if we get through the month with 5 points we're set up for a run of five winnable games before a potential winner takes all last day clash away to Leicester.

You think he didn’t play well today then?
I think he did his job today and offered a presence in the box with Kane drifting, also getting the first goal helps, can he do better? Definitely, we would have a lot more control if he didn’t lose out so much against the CB when the balls been played into him. Overall I think his performance today is satisfying but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s just not very good at being a target man at the moment. Maybe he can evolve and learn to be a monster in the future but on current showing it’s hard to see.

I heard this earlier today. I would have been sceptical myself, had it not been for the fact Toby is one of the senior players that has been backing Jose to the hilt.

To be honest, mate I was being a dick hole. I was riffing on the whole “where’s Toby” schtick at the start of the thread. However this is actually great news, so kinda pleased I was being a prick cavern, now.
Thanks for the info. ????

Very pleased to see Vinicius get a goal, it obviously meant a lot to him. I was actually really surprised to hear that he's 26, thought he was younger.

As for buying him, I'm hoping we see more of him in the run in. He's obviously rusty, where PL games are concerned, so we shouldn't judge him too harshly at this point, but he definitely needs to show more to justify getting anywhere near the price tag they've put on him.
