We played a back 3 against wolves, how did that work out.
Did you read my post? We did for about 20 minutes (and went 1-0 up), then reguilon was moved to left mid, and davies to left back. We played our 4231 for the majority of the game once we realized wolves set up in a 433.

The bloke was a genuine star for us for a prolonged period.

it’s reasonable to question him being frozen out and treated incredibly poorly.

Don’t want him? Then sell or loan him. Don’t treat the kid like shit. It’s disappointing
Let's stick the Dele stuff in his thread now, so this will be my last post in here about it. Of course he was good for us, but José did similar with Tanguy end of last season and look what happened. That technique doesn't work with everyone. To me both José and Dele are at fault. José needed to try a different approach, and Dele shouldn't go on his socials to have a moan.

Anyways onto this game and am intrigued as to how we'll set up. COYS.

Hojbjerg and Winks on 4 yellows now, hopefully they won't get carded today and miss Liverpool.

Edit: Winks not in the squad, my mistake.

Ah yes. The good old Sheffield United v Spurs build up on Sky reminiscing about Liverpool and Manchester United.

Feck off 'til later Arsewipes.

1. I dont care thet Dele isn't in the squad. He's been average at best for more than 2 years.

2. Im actually happy with this line up. I think we can be more dominant in possession with 3 cb's as the wing backs have far more license to attack and build play.

3. Happy to see PEH and Ndom together in the middle

Everyone has opinions but im happy with the line up. And based on that I think we will put on a good display and win.

Come on boys!!!

Our main issues (imo) in recent weeks:

1) Lack of control in possession. Solution = Sissoko out, Ndombele moved deeper, Bergwijn out wide.

2) Inability to deal with crosses/set pieces. Solution = Winks out, 6'4 Joey Rodon in.

3) Lack of cover for full-backs preventing them from attacking and providing width (thereby restricting Son as he's forced to cover the wide spaces). Solution = 3 at the back to cover Aurier and Reguilon driving forward, Son and Bergwijn allowed to play the 'inside forward' role.

4) Lack of cohesiveness/composure in the build-up phase in our own defensive third. Solution = Davies to LCB to prevent Dier playing those horrendous left footed balls straight to their CMs + Ndombele deeper to help us resist the press.

I agree that Dele out is a real shame, and might have gone for Toby over Rodon but if Rodon has been impressing in training then maybe he deserves a start - his pace might also be useful in covering Aurier as the wide CBs are often drawn out.

Overall, I'd say it's a really positive team which (on paper) solves a lot of our tactical issues from the last month or so.

So you're definitely saying he ought to be sold?
No. I don’t say that. But it is clear that any buying club will be looking at the position and seeing that he is not in the managers plans and that reduces the players value when they are not even making the squad. The only alternative is Levy sticks to his valuation of the player and then you will end up with a transfer request. Either way it reduces the value of the asset, particularly in this market and as a consequence the amount that could be reinvested. This is all aside from the fact that the team could do with more goals in it, which an inform Dele could bring, even from the bench.

Roy Keane just said ‘for some reason I supported Spurs (as a boy)....don’t know why’. ?

Dele only has himself to blame. He played well against Marine, and started to sound like he was winning Mourinho around with Mourinho commenting how well he played and been training after the game. So why, then be so petulant to post on Instagram that picture, straight after a disappointing result just because he didn't get on, when things are turning round. Just stupid and immature, and glad Mourinho has dropped him, and saw through Dele's intentions on posting what he did.

tbh i don't think it was a back three at any point in that game, it's just that alan smith on comms kept saying it.

To be fair just because it doesn't work in one game it doesn't mean it wont in another. Whether the players are right for it though is another matter. I wouldn't be against going to wing-backs with everyone available.

Lloris
Alderweireld----Dier----Rodon
Doherty----Lo Celso----Hojbjerg----Ndombele----Reguilon
Kane----Son

Looks good on paper but impossible to tell without a run of games in the system. Players would need time to get used to it which is difficult mid season.

Right, despite our manager we are playing one of the worst and out of form teams in PL history - we should be expecting (but not taking for granted) for a good professional performance and comfortable 3 points.

Come on you Spurs.

Did he? Was he not reffering to Michael Dawson? The pundit they have at the ground today. You might have heard of him? Knows a bit about defending and given the question was "how will the defence line up" is probably qualfified to answer that.

I thought he was talking about Chris when asked the question. I'm watching on NBCSN and have not seen Michael as a pundit.

Alderweireld is the best defender at the club by far. He also is the best long range passer in the squad. Why is he not playing in two must win matches this week?

I also don't understand the 3 at the back idea. Aurier and Reguilon have no issues getting forward normally, anyhow, and the ability to have one more attacking threat up the pitch to open up space for Son and Kane seems more likely to result in goals.

Yeah, no way he was picking him after that. Would only be rewarding his petulance.
