He was more of a superstar DJespecially with his fm stats. i thought we found our superstar
I’m not an avid youth watcher so can’t comment on how good or not Tsaroulla was, personally I’d have taken great pride in a Cypriot boy breaking through, of course Townsend did and Edwards should have ( Roles send fated not to but we’ll see), but it just rankles me a little when a young player gives a ‘they didn’t do right by me’ Toure interview about us, same as Terry Dixon did. Unless we didn’t support him on the medical side, which by his own admission we did, I’m not sure how we should’ve acted differently. At 19 he really needs to be pushing on, it’s a shame if injuries prevented that rather than ability but that’s an age where we’ve got the next bunch of u18s getting closer to men’s football too, and very few young players who haven’t had a sniff of the first team by then actually turn it around and get through to the seniors. Even Mason, who was a relatively late bloomer, had some first xi exposure by then. Tanganga seems to be the exception rather than the role.At the time Tsaroulla I would say was on par with say what Dennis Cirkin is now and he was looking good, a year out of football is a very long time and the problem seemed to be that at the time they did not know what the problem was and Spurs decided to let him go.
I will say Spurs have backed players who have missed a lot of football over the years Rafferty Pedder has missed a lot of football and I have talked to a family member who was very happy with how Spurs have looked after Pedder, Rafferty Pedder was a hell of a player when he was very young but the injuries stopped him pushing on, Pedder at say 14 was one of our best players and even Marcus Edwards father would point him out as a player.
Pedder is fit now and playing he is not a starter every week with our u23s but without the injuries he might have been a hell of a lot better and I like the club stood by him because he is a good player to watch.
Jonathan Dinzeyi is a played I never got at any point and not being harsh but we could have let him go at age16 but we stuck by him for years and he missed more football than any player I have ever known at youth level apart from maybe Terry Dixon who was brilliant but would break down every time he played.
Sterling has missed a lot of football also over the years and he has never pushed on at any point but we have looked after him and Anthony Georgiou has got a contract every year and he is coming up 24.
Spurs on paper have done the right thing with Tsaroulla but at the time I would have liked to see us back him and maybe give him one more year like they have done with others players and even players that was not as good as Tsaroulla.
Very Happy to see him playing again and it is what football is all about.
KWP just seemed so intelligent and talented, I have have no idea how we fudged it but equally, I wouldn’t be shocked to see us go back for him at some point and I imagine if it was to be a forest team player he’d accept given that he’s a huge Spurs fan. In the meantime, at least he’s having a good career now while we at least got him to a stage where it allowed us to get Højbjerg. Thank God we finally gave him that long overdue loan!Completely agree with KWP. Badly managed by Poch. Should have been given a longer run in the team when he first got in as he had some decent performances. One of his early bad games was Newport away in the cup. Could never understand why Poch played him at left back and a senior international Trippier at right back
Pretty sure Samways is at least 5 years older than Sol and Caskey.Yep. Remember him, Sol and Samways all came thru together, if I’m not mistaken.
Might be premature, but I am thus far disappointed with the trajectory of CCV’s career. Three years ago, I really thought he would evolve into a key starting CB for us. Sadly, it would appear that his overall standard of play is Championship. Would not be surprised to see him the MLS before long. Might be a better fit for him long term.
ain't itNice thread.
Terry Dixon was told by specialists that he should quite football and he still played on for a good few years and even West ham still gave him a contract.I’m not an avid youth watcher so can’t comment on how good or not Tsaroulla was, personally I’d have taken great pride in a Cypriot boy breaking through, of course Townsend did and Edwards should have ( Roles send fated not to but we’ll see), but it just rankles me a little when a young player gives a ‘they didn’t do right by me’ Toure interview about us, same as Terry Dixon did. Frankly, if the player isn’t going to cut it with us but has a shot of making it elsewhere, I think it’s only fair to let him move on, he tried with Brentford but didn’t get past their reserves either, and now he’s at a decent level and if he’s good enough, has the chance to work his way up the leagues.
Imagine we’d kept him on until he was 21, then released him having made no breakthrough at all because of our relative strength in that position during his time at the club? That would be two years wasted for him without having broken through, and far slimmer chances of making it as a professional now.

Of course he’s gutted and he has every right to be. My only issue is that but for Spurs, he’d likely not even be a professional footballer at a decent level right now, and has we clung into him for longer then that could’ve been the death knell, so comments like that from the previous poster saying that this reflects badly on us and we should have done right by him just rankle with me, I don’t see what we’ve done particularly wrong. No one is to blame it's football but we could have stood by Nick T like we did with others and I don't blame him for being gutted about being let go, he was a good player who was never a problem.
Giovanni dos Santos ... if anyone remembers him. I thought he was destined to superstardom

My point is that you would not let say Dennis Cirkin go if he was out for a year and as a club we have looked after players that have struggled a lot over the years.

If he was not at Spurs he would have been with some other club as a kid because he had talent at that age, Spurs are not to blame but we have backed other players at the same time that also missed a lot of football and some of them was not as good as him, this is all in the past now and he and Us have moved on and we now have Cirkin and Hackett so things are looking good.Of course he’s gutted and he has every right to be. Dorian Dervite ?Andros - a bit "head down and run the wing" but thought he would make it as I remember Ralph Coates doing the same early days at Spurs.
Thelwell was a great shout by others
for me I cant remember this guy's name could have been Spanish but I think he was a French CB nailed on success at Spurs
hopefully somebody will remember his name
