I think someone said earlier that part of the tactics today was about conserving energy and there may well be something to do that - lots of games still to come.

Their keeper had a very good day, so fair fucks to him BUT imagine if they had someone better than Benteke - he is so bad and still got into some good positions, should probably have worked Lloris much harder a couple of times.

So all in all, it could have been better, could have been worse and a draw is probably a fair result.

it's quite possible we will be 5th after Wednesday, since Chelsea, Leicester and especially Southampton have very winnable games coming up.

I hope this lesson learnt of not sitting back when its 1-0 (u can play like that 2-0) would serve us good in the whole season. Remember we have quite a fair bit of mid table opponents like Palace left to play this season.

Onwards and hopefully after midweek, upwards and reclaim our top spot.

Well... Maybe. But the mass hysteria based on one draw kinda proves my point.

I think it’s easy to consider a load of negative posts as ‘hysteria’ because they all flood in together. But if you take each one on its own terms the majority are fair assessments of a disappointing day. We have high expectations this season, so yes a draw to Palace will be met with negativity (particularly when we have invited their goal on). And rightly so. Hysteria would be asking for established players to be dropped off the back of one bad game or questioning Jose’s position (rather than just his decisions today).

It's the performance/tactics not the result that is so disappointing. We showed what we can do in the first 23 minutes and again in the last 5-10. If we keep that intensity for the entire first half we probably go in 2 or 3 up and then we can sit back and look for counters

We’ve responded well to poor results this season. Hopefully use that 2nd half performance as motivation over the next month. A reminder we are not there yet.

Third time an incorrect freekick leads to a setpiece from which our opponent score. I don't know wtf VAR cannot go in and make a call in those situations. They would if there was an offside so I don't understand why a blatantly incorrect freekick which leads to a goal cannot be checked.

Cottagers should have just scored. At least they haven't conceded yet. 4 mins in and no goals conceded is good for them.

Hopefully Fulham do the unthinkable and this might look like a solid point lol
Ahh, and just 3 hours previous we were in a position to not worry about whether or not the Fulham’s of this world beat the Liverpool’s in order to stay top. Feels like a lifetime ago.

I think it is a disaster though isn't it. Psychologically if we win, we stay top. We will now be chasing for 1st position. Winning today would have put huge pressure on the other clubs that dropped point this weekend. Big opportunity missed imo.
We're simply not going to win every game. This was always a likely away draw. Let's see what we can do against a weakened Liverpool on Wednesday.

The next three games are season defining. Liverpool at Anfield is going to be difficult to draw, let alone win, but the Leicester and Wolves matches are so crucial. Two teams that are better versions of Palace and capable of beating us. Two points out of the next three games could happen, even with good performances. The league has never been so competitive, so we could go from 1st right now to 7th before the new year. That's hard to fathom, but the schedule does us no favors until February.

The hysteria on here is both hilarious and fucking pathetic.

Disaster, season over, abysmal etc etc etc! Words like this are embarrassing and other fans should rightly laugh at us for them.

No he wasn’t, I wasn’t having a go at him, more building on what he said. Someone else was making that comment though.
I was. He shouldnt be a pundit at the desk. He was fine on game commentary though a few years back when he was still playing in England. Its not the tourettes. He’s just not cut for the desk job which is fine.

Got to hope they score one of the penalties they seem to get every other game.

Also, why are the media obsessed with Liverpool’s apparent injury crisis. Apart from VVD and Gomes (who arguably wasn’t first choice), they are full strength (apart from Jota). Their problems are nothing like ours were last season and if you believed the media you’d think they only had 5 fit players full stop.
