That's exactly what you do with very talented players like Man City have with Elano. Having Berba lifts the quailty of our squad above the likes of Villa and Everton.

Or let him go and enjoy a few seasons of a Keane/Bent forward line.

I see your point - but we have other players who are nearly as good as him that deserve to come into their own, not to be part of a team supporting just 1 player.

to be honest, I'd quite happily welcome Mourinho to the club.

I just question how good he is without Roman's cash?

He's alright. Won the CL without Roman's cash. MR A was after him for a reason. If we get him we can really expect some success - I am pretty sure he would attract some top players too.

Regarding Hughes, he's done well with Blackburn. Wouldn't be my first choice, but in our current position, if Jol leaves were not exactly going to be able to choose whoever we like. We could do far worse.

Iv met Hughes and he's a very nice gentleman much smaller than id thought he'd be though. And to the poster that says all his team do is kick people off the park is an idiot a lot of the time they play good football. He seems to have sorted them out defensively and im pretty sure he has a good record against top 4 teams. He'll also bring in a winning mentality and some passion which is something were severely lacking at the moment. If Jol was to go i wouldnt be dissapointed with Sparky at all. But of course as per usual with ITK this is taking with a bug pinch of salt. Who's to say that if he did come here we'd be just another stepping stone for him until he gets the Man U job.

I'm dumbfounded as to why the majority are against this? He's done a good job at Blackburn bar the Wafer debacle. They play some good stuff and know how to defend.

He seems like a manager who calls a spade a spade and not a media puppet. I bet he'd bang some heads together because by God they need it.

We could do a lot worse, would be interesting to see how he'd do with a decent budget behind him.

Good Post and I agree. I'd rather Jol got it right, but it looks inevitable that he is gone.

Have some rep :)

I think Mark Hughes will be stupid to manage a bunch of no hopers like Spurs ! You have a good thing going at Blackburn ! Spurs will stick with Jol ( or if he goes... promote from within).

I don't think people are against it, I just don't see Hughes saying yes, to be honest. He's taken an age to build a squad he wants, and I can't see him walking away from it.

Not to us; not at the moment.

Trouble is I'm not sure we've got anyone within that could do it, which may be while Jol is still there for now, not an ideal situation in the slightest.

He may well be hanging on for the United job, and certainly would have the potential to leave us for them in the future should it come up.

Does not wanting to pay the compensation imply they have reason to believe he would come? If they want him it's hard to imagine the compensation being high enough to deter us.

I don't think Klinsmann would be a good idea.

i dont want klinsmann either (oh crap northern-spur is gonna neg rep me again) i cant see how a manager untested at club football will lead us forward, he might be amazing in time but the first year or two will be a gamble and we all know spurs dont stick to the 5 year plan

Jesus now Gullit is someone i definately wouldnt want. Not exactly someone who's gonna sort the defence out he'll be wanting to play 'sexy football' its like going back to the days of Ossie.

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: Yep, just what we need Mark Hughes, the manager to take us to the CL places ( i think not). FFS there are two managers out of work, who have far more experience than him Capello, Lippi, we must be happy of having the tag of the laughing stock of football.

Fuckin Mark hughes no better than what we've got.:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Yes, Gullit is a definite no, when was the last time he managed a team?

Get Jamie "the voice of football" Redknapp in. He knows it all already, so this job should be a stroll in the park.

Plus we could all have a go at whip-cracking his missus.
