Really impressed with uThe Athletic so far.

A good article on Moura showing his rise and early promise and setbacks.
One quote from early in his career “Lucas is a Ferrari, but he’s being driven by someone who doesn’t even know how to change gear”

Guess is a concern regarding him being a starter. Can he adapt his game to face the different challenges?

The Athletic article is good. Essentially puts forward that he’s always had a tonne of talent and potential but never delivered consistently. Was regarded as the brighter talent when he and Neymar were breaking through, but has never fully delivered.

Saying he has a real opportunity now where he appears to have won the backing of the club and staff to finally make good on all the promise.

I do think he has the most footballing ability on our team, nobody can make something out of nothing like he can but he lacks consistency, I honestly believe he could have a Salah esque season if he found that consistency.

Not disputing this but when has he made something out of nothing? I’m trying to remember any goal of his of that being the case bar maybe his second versus Ajax? Maybe my mind has gone blank

I'm talking in a broader sense rather than specific moments because of his ability in terms of control especially first touch, his ability to turn at pace and take players on and good technique when finishing, We've seen a few moments where he can turn it on with goals as you say Ajax, United game but there's also been moments where he hasn't finished it but the move has been outstanding and on another day he would have got a goal out of it, a few moments vs Inter spring to mind. We've started to see better finishing towards end of last season and during pre-season.

I feel that if he had worked on his game playing on the LW cutting onto his right he would have been devastating. Issue is he has trained as an old school RW and they tend to have a lot more simple game. He would have had the correct training to be a good Inside forward with the attributes he has.

Genuinely think he has the best leap of every forward in the league, the way he springs up so high despite being a short man is incredible. Reminds me a bit of Ronaldo's leap.

Yeah massive big up to Lucas. I've got my issues with his game outside the box but he's a big moment penalty area player and god knows we need them.

Lucas is a special talent and it seems he is starting to live up to his original billing under Poch/Spurs. No doubt he has a clumsier touch more often than he should. No doubt he crowds other players and doesn't play off them well on occasion. But he creates opportunities that no other player on the team it's capable of creating. That push past the defender and accelerating around him was something to marvel at. I am so hoping that he continues to grow as be could be another special player. And couldn't happen to a better person.

No chance - you seen Son play - technically unbelievable.

Do rate LM mind

Big mistake Poch didn’t start Moura today. Making a few mistakes as coach IMO at the moment and this is one of them.

Well, that’s your opinion. So maybe cool it on the “no chance”. Lucas was one of the, if not the, highest rated prospects in world football as a youngster. He was higher rated than Neymar, Vinicius, Damiao, etc. It’s his application that has been questioned, natural ability-wise he is more than a match for anybody else in our squad IMO.

Totally disagree. Moura is an impact player and that gets lost when he plays full games against top teams. He is devastating when he comes on against tiring teams and Man City were definitely tiring.

How much did we pay for him again? £23m? What a bargain he's been not just based on his returns but his character as well. Characters like this slowly alter the fabric of the club, his attitude will be infectious, as will his never say die attitude.

Excellent signing that has definitely won me over. Knows how to score in big games as well. Proper Spurs is Lucas!
