Can't believe people are dropping Sissoko. Our best midfielder by far last year.

Aurier-Toby-Jan-Rose
Sissoko-NDombele
Lo Celso-Eriksen-Son
Kane

The above would be my side.
I personally would like to see Sissoko tried out in the #6 role as well, his athleticism is something that is hard to leave out of the squad and was so instrumental for us last season in big matches.

A midfield of Ndombele, Sissoko, and Lo Celso would be an unreal mixture of creativity, athleticism, and tenacity and I struggle to think of many teams that could cope with it.

Son Kane
Eriksen
Lo Celso Sissoko Ndombele

I reckon Sissoko would be best on the right of the 3 as he'll be given more licence to burst forward and can easily slot in and cover our RB. I fear as a 6 he'd be very susceptible to the press as he's not the best at receiving or passing the ball under pressure. Whenever we paired him and Dier or Wanyama as a 2 our midfield we really struggled to keep possession and pass it out from the back for that exact reason.

I think Sissoko will be largely used in rotation - starting games that suit his qualities and coming on as a sub to terrorise tired legs or provide a bit of steel. The amount of game time he gets will also depend on whether Poch sees Lo Celso as more of a no.10 or a no. 8. If Poch prefers Lo Celso in a deeper role he'll likely be directly competing with Sissoko and one of them will miss out.

If Lo Celso does sign and eriksen stays there really is no best xi. Will be loads of rotation and an appropriate team depending on opponents. The number of options will be numerous.

Couldn't agree more with that sentiment. If... BIG IF... we sign Lo Celso and the brothers Sess, and keep Eriksen and Toby... then it's more-or-less impossible at this stage to pick a best XI... as it will change based on formation and opposition.

For example... let's say we're playing Man City away. The team could look like: at 4321:

Lloris

Foyth
Toby
Jan
Davies

Sissoko
Winks
Ndombele

Eriksen
Dele

Harry

If playing Sheffield Utd at home it could be a traditional 433:

Lloris

Foyth
Sanchez
Jan
Sess

Celso
Winks
NDombele

Son
Kane
Moura

Ultimately the best XI will be based on whatever Poch wants to do on the day. More important than the formation and the players therein, is the depth from which to choose. That's the key.

My predictions:

GK - Lloris starts league and CL matches, Gazzaniga get League Cup and FA Cup

RB - Aurier and Foyth will rotate - KWP will either go out on loan, or be a super backup for RB and LB

RCB - Alderweireld and Sanchez will "rotate"

LCB - Vertonghen and Sanchez will "rotate" - essentially 3 starters for 2 CB spots, rotating - Dier and/or Foyth can fill for injury

LB - Davies and Sessegnon rotate

DM - Winks and Dier will rotate - Skipp will be pushing both

CMs - eventually Lo Celso and Ndombele will be starters - but not until both build up fitness. Dele and Sissoko will rotate in these spots. Might see Sissoko and Ndombele paired because of the relationship/language bond.

AM - Eriksen - with Dele and Lo Celso rotating in this spot also

Forward - Kane and Son will start most league matches, Lucas and Lamela will get a few starts, and Parrott or Llorente might pick up a spot start in League Cup and early FA Cup matches.

This sort of assumes a 442 with a Diamond midfield. At this point, I expect Eriksen and Toby to stay, Rose to go, Wanyama to be bought out/sold. I think Sanchez will get lots of starts at CB - both sides. I expect us to play pretty strong sides in Cup matches - I think we will make every effort to win a trophy - without overly taxing the squad (so injuries could scuttle those plans).

Lloris
Foyth Toby Jan Sessegnon
Dier
Lo Celso Ndombele
Eriksen
Kane Son

Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Aurier, Winks, Sissoko, Dele, Lucas

Lamela, Skipp, Davies, Parrott, KWP, 3rd GK, S. Sessegnon

Agree with LexingtonSpurs largely, although still wonder/hope Dier will be moved back to CB, where his passing and mobility limitations are less exposed. Particularly as I see less of a need for a traditional DM with the likes of Sissoko, Ndombele and Winks in midfield. Half expect Wanyama to be retained as that enforcer unless Skipp is considered ready to fill in - which on recent performance he could well be.

LB without Rose is still a concern but appreciate we need to give Sessegnon the opportunity and Davies remains the perfect back up IMO.

Other wildcard is if we bring any of these exciting “youngsters” the ITKs have referenced, how that effects Poch’s rotation.

Poch likes a 25 man squad and I think this will end up being ours:

GK: Lloris, Gazza & Whiteman
DF: Rose, Davies, KWP, Aurier, Toby, Jan, Foyth & Sanchez
CM: Winks, Sissoko, N'Dombele, Dier & Skipp
AM: Eriksen, Fernandes, Dele, Lucas, Son, Lamela & Sessegnon
FW: Kane & Parrott

Transfers out: Wanyana, N'Koudou, Onomah to Fulham and CCV on loan
Transfers in: Sessegnon & Fernandes

Best XI will very much be based on form and formation.

1st XI:
Lloris
Foyth-Alderweireld-Vertonghen-Rose
Sissoko-Ndombele-Lo Celso
Eriksen
Son-Kane

2nd XI:
Gazzaniga
Aurier-Sanchez-Davies-Sessegnon

Likes of Lo Celso and Dele will have license to get forward and join front 3.

I'm not sure that we will have a 2nd 11, I hope not. It is a squad game and there are days when kane through the middle isnt working and Moura will go there. Or son. Winks may come in for sissoko to retain the ball better. Etc

The big improvement is that we now have tactical options that we simply didn't have last season.

I probably would put Winks in our first team, not that he is better than Sissoko just different and sitting deep with his passing more suited than Sissoko.

Ndombele is wasted in the deeper role.

Assuming no outgoings before September, if I had to choose an A and B team so to Susan:

Lloris
Walker-Peters Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Ndombélé Winks
Lo Celso Eriksen Son
Kane

————————————————————

Lucas
Sessegnon Dele Lamela
Dier Sissoko
Davies Sanchez Foyth Aurier
Gazzaniga
However, it’s a squad game and I fully expect every player from both sides to get a significant amount of minutes.

This part right here is what I'm excited for.

We have a lot of options. If Eriksen stays I would opt for 4-2-3-1, 5-3-2 or 4-3-3 but if he doesn't then a diamond could work better with TN and GLC as number 8s.

Lloris
Aurier --- Toby -- Verts --- Rose
Winks Ndombele
Eriksen Alli Son
Kane

Gazzaniga
KWP -- Sanchez -- Foyth -- Davies
Sissoko Skipp
Lamela Lo Celso Sessegnon
Lucas
--------------------------------------

Lloris
Toby Sanchez Verts
KWP ---------------------------Sessegnon
Eriksen Winks Ndombele
Kane -- Lucas

Gazzaniga
Foyth Dier Davies
Aurier -----------------------Rose
Sissoko/Alli Skipp GLC
Parrott -- Son

---------------------------------------

Lloris
Aurier --- Toby -- Verts --- Rose
Winks
Ndombele --- Lo Celso
Alli
Kane -- Son

Gazzaniga
KWP -- Sanchez -- Foyth -- Sessegnon
Skipp
Sissoko ---- Eriksen
Lamela
Parrott --- Lucas

I still think we’ll try to sell Eriksen, so working without, I’d say:

———-Lloris
Foyth—Toby—Jan—-Rose
————-Winks
—-Lo Celso——Ndombele
Lucas——Kane——Son

My view is that if last season’s form levels are replicated, Lucas should be starting more games, and Dele less.

Surprised so many are dropping arguably our player of the season last year Sissoko, in many cases with Winks who for me still hasn't shown enough defensively or attacking to justify so many 1st 11 selections, still only a squad player. Also Skipp impressed me more than Winks in preseason, guess I just don't see what everyone else does...

Assuming everyone fit I'd go with:

Lloris
RB - whoever can prove he's best there, still open for me.
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Rose
Sissoko (one of 1st on team sheet for me)
Ndombele
Lo Celso
Eriksen
Son
Kane

Dele if he can find form may work his way back in.

I think there are plenty of unanswered questions, RB, LB, CB partner to Vertonghen, CM, and AM all are/have slots up for grabs. I think it's a weakness starting the season with so many unknowns in terms of who's best.

Lloris, Vertonghen, Moura and Kane for sure is in my starting line up, and the rest I'm just not sure about. I do not think it is a given that Alderweireld, Sissoko, Rose, Eriksen or Dele will be the most regular players this season.
