can someone explain in 16 year old terms my tiny brain can't comprehend it
Well, kiddo, it’s a loan with obligation to buy so we will sign him on a perm next season but for now we pay a smallish fee (so in theory we have more money) and gets around PSG’s sell-on clause.

Go to bed.

We give Betis one apple now so big bully PSG can’t take it before Betis can eat it. We then give them 4 apples later when big bully PSG no longer has a right to any apples because the big bully PSG graduated and is no longer around to take their apples.

Or something.

We’re loaning him for a year before purchasing next summer. Means Betis owe PSG less money (the sell on doesn’t take into account the loan fee), and potentially frees us up some money this summer for further business...

Total genius from Levy if this frees up cash for Dybala
I don’t think this is as much about freeing up cash. It’s about getting Betis what they need out of the deal we have been offering based on what we have been willing to spend, which was always substantial.

hopefully does both. enables the GLC deal to happen, and pushes the majority of the fee in to next summer's budget (if that was going to exist!).

Perhaps, but there is one point that doesn’t make sense to me though. Wouldn’t this require Betis to resign Lo Celso so that he can get the wages that we agreed to with him in his personal terms since he is still their property? Just trying to figure out how he gets the wages we agreed to unless this was always part of it.

I assume as part of the loan contract? we take over responsibility for his salary and can pay him an agreed sum.

I can't see any reason why this wouldn't be the case or why there'd be any issue. mbappe will have been paid far more during his loan period at psg, same for ndombele at lyon etc.

edit: resign?? he'll still be their player!

Italian clubs like these kinds of deals, surprised more EPL teams don't do it considering the fact the TV money is guaranteed.

Don't worry about it. Foreign clubs do these deals all the time. It is effectively just finance spreading to get around clauses and shift money around different financial periods (usually for FFP).

Doesn't effect the deal one jot and we will pay him as if he's ours.

Well lads, I'm going to sign off early here and going to tuck into bed with a Heineken (in honor of Danny Rose wanting to stay) and my copy of Brave New World, in the hope, and a bit of belief, that our Poch will be happy with DL's efforts this window. Remember fellow fans that our lot in life, once we embraced the boys from WHL, is for it to be, forever, about the journey.... COYS!!!

Don’t worry. This guy got it covered.
