One of the comments (roughly translated) that kind of clarifies how this deal has been structured to avoid Betis paying so much to PSG:
It is good operation cazurros !! 16 million for an assignment (loan I presume) and therefore PSG catches 0 € and the rest up to 57 million more variable next year .. 40 million - 25 = 15 x0.2 = 3 million that the PSG takes and more for the Betis piggy bank.

Don't understand a word of that but if they're saying it's a loan with obligation to buy (hence reducing PSG's total with the sell on fee), then it would make us signing Dybala this summer far more financially viable.

As far as I could tell, we're signing him for 16M and the rest of the deal is in 40M worth of (presumably very easily attained) add-ons, most of which he'll get in the next year.
This means Betis don't need to pay PSG anywhere near as much of the initial share of the sell-on fee, though presumably Betis will have to pay them the rest later, or else they've completely gamed the 'sell on fee' system.
More importantly it means we have more cash to play with right now.

I don’t think it means we saved much money as much as we were able to structure it so Betis could maximize their return.
