I think it's the "were" that's tripping him up.
It's 'were' as in "My source told me they were not as confident" The phrase is past tense not the meaning.

So hard to read the situation with conflicting bits of information. What I do wonder is what the plan is if Dybala falls through, does Fernandes come into play or do we reserve those funds that would have been used and call it a day with Sessegnon and Lo Celso?

The added bit by the goat about Eriksen staying may explain the possibility of Dybala not happening. For me, if Dybala can be got, we should get him and show eriksen that he will be fighting for a place if he stays. If he stays he will walk for free in a year anyway so we dont really lose anything by getting his replacement before he goes.

I do think Dybala is a unique case. An opportunistic deal if you will. I think its outside the normal plans.

Nobody would write ‘were possible’ if something is no longer possible, they would write not possible, not happening or Levy is a dildo.
