There were issues with him and Toby. It’s why Sanchez who does prefer left CB played right CB when paired with Toby, who is a natural Right CB. The two have had a heated argument in the changing rooms after a game.

To be perfectly blunt, I think it's a bit rich for Trippier to start pointing fingers at *others* after the last few seasons he's had at club level. He was a virtual nobody before Poch picked him up and made him what he is today and Poch is also totally responsible for giving him the chance to play at Atletico Madrid.

I'm pleased he's off our books now...

Who knows what he's talking about. For all you know someone could have been a right **** to him behind the scenes. Unless you know perhaps it's best not to roll out the grandiose bullshit.

He has always tried his best. Unfortunately last season a few issues caused a few poor performances but he was still first choice right back in the champions League final. Ok/Good player but not as good as Walker and there are probably others we can get who are better.

Also, the season before, last season with walker. he didn’t play as much. Poch thought that his poor performance in training was down to him being a new dad and tired. But I think truely it was down to him lacking the ability. However when walker burnt his bridges trips came in and played well.

This.

I just think it's a sour thing to do now after he's left, regardless right or wrong at our club, "behind the scenes" no matter.

It's our business now, Tripps, and none of yours. Is wiser to just keep quiet and move on instead of being so suggestive to the media. Disappointed in him with this TBH. The more I think the more I'm pissed with such person.

God, Trippier is such a ****.

I can't believe he said he made one off the cuff comment that didn't please me. He should've said how fucking brilliant Spurs were at every opportunity.

He didn't even mime rimming Poch once! Now that shows a real lack of respect.

The guy is clearly up himself - massive delusions of grandeur - and definitely shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt for being a consummate professional and servant of the club for 4 years.

The prick even had the audacity to do loads of charity work and, though he was widely known to be one of the nicest blokes at a club, he certainly hasn't pulled the wool over my eyes.

I'd have said a lot worse if the fans had been on my back constantly and the boss wanted me gone, when Aurier and KWP are his other two options.

When you came from Burnley, useless at Citeh, gotten the chance to play in WC semi scoring a free kick and played in the CL final...?

Ok.

Yeah, because the man himself had no influence on his own career, its all a gift we gave him.

Frankly,he can say what he likes if that is how he feels about it. After all, we cant just apply the 'honesty' rule to Danny Rose who gets lauded for it. People want players to be honest, sometimes they'll say things people don't want to hear.

The fact he is flapping his gums like this suggests to me that even if he has the greatest season of any right-back in world football, we are lucky not to have him in the squad anymore.

Half of you are acting like he went of some expletive-laden, bitter rant about Spurs. Have you actually watched the interview? He's actually pretty respectful and diplomatic. He said:

"Things happened behind the scenes at Tottenham that I don't really want to go into"

If I take anything from that, it's that the club probably pushed him out this summer, in which case he's fully entitled to be a little peeved. But instead of going into it, he made one vague comment and then changed the subject. Hardly a scathing attack. Pretty much every other comment he's made in the press has been really positive about Spurs - he wrote a heartfelt Instagram message specifically thanking the fans and wishing everyone at the club the very best. That's more than a lot of our players would've done in the same situation.

The difference is the press can't spin 30 clickbait headlines to rile up fickle fans out of positivity, so they spin one pretty innocuous line into 'TRIPPER BLAME UNREST AT SPURS BLAH BLAH BLAH" and have fans frothing at the mouth before they even bother to read the thing.

If that's him "flapping his gums" about Spurs I'd hate to see how you guys would react if he'd actually said something bad.

Let's be honest, the teams England played in last years world cup were dreadful, at best championship level standard, so you'd expect him to look comfortable, which he did. When you pitch him against Mane, Sane, Hazard and Zaha, they take the piss and he looks shocking.

Neverat the required standard for a top 6 teams

He looked happy playing vs. MLS allstars tonight. Had a good cross going to the far post, but D Costa got in the way with a failed bicycle kick.

I didn’t think that Trippier was quite good enough for us based on last season’s performances, but I have a lot of respect for coming out of his comfort zone and going to play in Spain is with players he do not know in a country that doesn’t speak English. Kudos to him

I hope he does well but honestly I'm glad he's gone, he was pretty shocking last season. Seems a nice guy.

I think he played well for England was because he had Walker in the back three behind him which allowed him to play a more attacking and concentrate on crosses
