We would be crazy to even try and "upgrade" him. Poch and the team should be working to try and find a way to get the best out of him. I think the issue is he was best in the advanced 10 role but Kane has taken that by coming deeper meaning Dele has also moved deeper. It doesn't work well for him being in a disciplined midfield position.

I don't disagree,and I would say he did ok blocking the lanes and marking out some players defensively and attacking he is amazing when he is amazing,but he definitely needs to get focused.He has tremendous talent and played it at times but we haven't seen the dynamic Dele Alli for some time.Still he could be coached back. I mean how would it feel if he became a top player with someone else and he could.

I'm all for competition in the squad, I'm a massive advocate of having more than one top quality player in each position at the risk of some of them being unhappy with lack of game time.

However, I still don't understand how you can see Dele as so easily upgradeable. I'd love for us to sign Dybala, but I wouldn't necessarily consider him an upgrade on Dele. I still think you're seriously underestimating what Dele is capable of, which is disappointing because he did it for 3 straight seasons.

I'm fairly confident he wasn't dropped or rested because everyone else was either injured or playing even worse. Absolutely certain he'll regain his form soon imo.

Fed up with people posting stupid comments about Dele. The guy is a diamond. He had no pre-season last year, picked up a lot of injuries, and played out of position. The whole squad struggled last year because of the injuries, pre-season, lack of rotation. What is wrong with some of you?

For example Jeep’s deal is due to expire in 2021 so with their 42% voting rights in FCA and an Agnelli as chairman they could easily push through an early renewal deal in line with Barcelona’s, Real’s or Man United’s shirt deals and it would not set off FFP alarm bells.

I feel like people don't rate him because his talents aren't in how technically astute he is at passing/dribbling, his sensibilities are so different to everybody else, I don't care who we sign this summer I'm adamant dele will keep himself within the 11.

Plenty of excuses for his numerous poor displays last year but none of them explain why takes so long on the ball and become more ineffective because of that.

So no excuses this year - let's see how much he improves. He does need to improve right?

Agree with the poster who said they're not fond of this diamond formation. Really it requires dynamic wingbacks who can cross and I wonder whether we are waiting on Aarons and Lewis from Norwich next year. Don't think Sess can cross the ball in the air very well from what I've seen. On the deck, very good, but in the air, no better than Rose. Shame, but if we're patient then year after next we could have one hell of a team.

He is still a rough diamond. Brilliant at times ,too casual at times. May have had injuries last year but needs to earn his place. Lamela is looking more serious,and we are buying a few players for his type of position it looks like
