MHO All this is noise Bale has a young family, needing schools etc

Could be wrong but I can't see him going to China, RM can't force him so what do they do if he says ....No?

Once you take "Take the China off the table"...you are left with Europe, and that is IMHO Us Bayern and PSG.

I reckon levy is in there somewhere with barnett sorting this for us....Its not like they dont know one another really well!

The rest could well be RMs media machine cranking up, trying to push the price up knowing they are about to be financially raped, for the 2nd time by Levy and Bale...

I could be wrong, but time will tell
He’s not coming to us

United are also keeping tabs on the situation from what I understand and that makes a lot of sense. If he comes back to the Premier League then I am almost certain it's going to be with United.

Don't get me wrong, if there was a deal we could thrash out that doesn't upset our wage structure too massively then I'd love to see him back, but right now United need a big name and they need one who brings a bit of flair. Bale ticks both boxes and they can afford to be batting around prices above our level so it makes sense.

From our point of view, footballers should play for love of playing and the money should be a happy bonus, and the truth is clearly the opposite. However, same as when Beckham went to LA and other similar examples, he’s going to go and experience a new culture steeped in history and see things which the majority of us here, myself included, never get the chance to. Throw in the unbelievable benefit to his children of spending part of their youth learning and growing in a very different part of the world, the fact that he’s achieved everything he could possibly want to achieve professionally, and yes, an enormous amount of money, and it becomes an opportunity that is too good to turn down.

My sister in law, Yorkshire born and raised, has two children, one born in Bosnia and the other in Hungary, who have lived between them in those two countries, Thailand and Vienna, they are 10 and 5 respectively and have learnt and absorbed more than any children of the same age I’ve seen in this country. Meanwhile my sister in law and her husband are seeing the world, making friends everywhere and continuing to have adventures now in their forties. This is on the salary of international school teachers, not elite world famous athletes.

We have purist expectations of how players conduct their careers, but ultimately they are people just like us who have infinite potential motivators just like us. Le Tissier was the hot shot who just preferred being the main man in an sme to being a cog in a large corporation. Alan Shearer achieved the pinnacle at a young age and then saw his career out somewhere he loved and cared about rather than hit the stratosphere somewhere glamourous. Phil Nevill, Nicky Butt and Solskjaer were far happier being business supporting at a huge organisation than main men at a start up. And maybe the players who go to China, India, Australia, USA etc at an age where they still have something to offer the top leagues are doing so because, having achieved a huge amount already, they want to experience life out there while they’re young enough to really enjoy it because when they were 18 they couldn’t go on a ‘gap yaar’ because they were to busy dedicating themselves to making it as top class professional footballers in the first place.

Or maybe it’s just the money, but you know what, these guys invest so much time, emotion and effort into getting to the top of their careers that they have every right to decide what career moves they should next make and it’s pretty arrogant to judge them for it. None of you would be thrilled about having your motives question of you took a high flying position with an overseas company,m I’d imagine.

I agree with your sentiment and absolutely it's his choice and nobody can fault him for that, I still think as fans of the man it's okay to still be disappointed because as fans we want to see these special people testing the limits of their craft, the same reason I'm disappointed when an actor chooses an easy money maker film as opposed to taking on a real acting challenge but it's their prerogative.

Aren’t the odds just going down because you’re all putting money on it?
Yes of course, that is how betting works.
As per my original post, Bale's mates were telling my mates that he was heading to China back then (I posted this on the 20th June, after being told around the 12th/13th June)

It’s fine to be disappointed, it’s the high and mighty comments I don’t like, they’re disrespect to him, they’re disrespect to the people trying to grow the Chinese game and I struggle to believe that the majority of these critics wouldn’t make the same choice given the chance.

If it's China then I've lost all respect for him.

A real shame but I won't think of him with the same fondness.

It's greed and that is all.

Yeah no doubt they will pay stupid wages, but in this case it’s all about money not the stature of club
Bales all about wages right now and our stature don’t mean anything to him, he’s in a different place, I don’t think if he’s thinking about going China he much cares about trophies and status anymore.

Bayern or United IMO. I'd like to think he's not that sort of guy to go to China at 30. Many years before he needs to go there.

No European team is taking Bale at a similar level of financial outlay unless he compromises big time.
More likely not because it would inflate everyone else’s wages within the team and more likely overall across clubs. In China his teammates would prob not think much about it as he’s one of the biggest players in the world coming over where in Europe we may get more of the Sanchez United affect with players like ashford on what ever he’s on

Bales all about wages right now

This still irks me - where has Bale demonstrated or said that? Like i've said previously, if i've missed something then please correct me, but as far as I can find he's not turned down anything other than RM's request to piss off and leave them alone.

No contract has been offered, he's not turned down anything at all and it sounds like it's RM preventing anyone from offering him a contract because they've priced him really high.

Silence is leading a lot of people to assume a lot of stuff.

Ndombele will have the Bale factor for us in the sense how he will make our club better. But even more so.
While Bale won games on his own Ndombele will bring everyone forward with him.
Bale created space for himself to win but Ndombele will open space for all of our players ahead of him.

What about his brand and marketability? Surely his profile will fade drastically in Europe and the US as he just washes away from public conciousness. Are they betting on him shooting through the roof in the asian market?

Herc has already said they can't do it due to knock on impact of other contacts.
