Loosing Toby would be awful. We should give him whatever he wants. Top 3 defenders in the league.
I take it you haven't bothered to read this thread, otherwise you would know this is all on Toby and his dad.

Yep. First though the door with a smile on his face
I'm getting arsenal fans now saying that they should pay the 25m and get him. They genuinely think he'd go there.
If baldini is flying in to london to negotiate he must think there is a chance. Add to that our bid for saliba (toby money?).
I think Trix mentioned recently that clubs don't need our permission to talk to Toby because of the release clause so it's possible that they've already spoken to him and he's shown an interest in going there.
Baldini flying over to talk to Levy makes sense as well. There's no way that Levy will reduce the price by £10m-£15m, but it's probably worth the cost of a flight to try and save a million or two.
No mate he's still under contract so officially they would need to ask permission to speak to him. We all know that there isn't one top level club that wont sound a player out before they make a bid nowadays so the asking permission thing is pretty much a pointless rule. The difference with Toby, is that the buying club already know the fee so won't need to contact us at all untill they trigger it, and Toby sure as hell isn't going to make it known just who he has or hasn't been talking to. I wouldn't believe anything paper talk wise about this one tbh, as I doubt any of them know just what offers he might be considering.I think Trix mentioned recently that clubs don't need our permission to talk to Toby because of the release clause so it's possible that they've already spoken to him and he's shown an interest in going there.

But it seems like the club are holding a grudge.

Or setting the right example that no player can disrespect the manager and the club.

He already turned a competitive top % contract down, why would you offer him another one when he backed out of the original one?We have done that already. If he accepts a new offer I cant see any problems with that. So no harm in offering a new contract.
Literally this MP is setting an example, don't make me look like a twatOr setting the right example that no player can disrespect the manager and the club.

This blind love for footballers who have shot themselves in their own foot due to their own greed is mystifying on here.
A bit of a moot point I think, as Toby was one of the first to report for training on FridayDoesn't necessarily mean much - if he wants to start next season well with anyone then he'll need to get match fit again. Best way of doing that is to report back to training, put in the work and see what outcome his agents negotiate.
Lost count of how many players we've seen go on strike or get "injured" in pre-season to try and force through a move and then start the season in disastrous form with their new team because they haven't had a pre-season. Remember Bale and Modric did it when they left here, as well as Dempsey and Sissoko when they arrived.
I may be delusional but I really hope we can find a way to sort things out. Gut instinct is that losing Toby would weaken us more than signing Ndombele has strengthened us - at least in the short term.
No doubt, he made his choice so ...I do not know if its blind love. For me it’s about the quality of our team. If we lose Toby our defence suddenly look quite weak.
Erm, for the same reason as offering it originally. To secure a top quality player at a reasonable financial cost, either guaranteeing his services if kept or maximising our ability to get a good fee if sold.He already turned a competitive top % contract down, why would you offer him another one when he backed out of the original?
Which bit of the going back on the original contract offer are you missing?Erm, for the same reason as offering it originally. To secure a top quality player at a reasonable financial cost, either guaranteeing his services if kept or maximising our ability to get a good fee if sold.
