Btw. Bumped into Ledley King earlier - he suggested arsenal are gonna have a long, slow season, without many highs

The Tier system is basically crowdsourced on Reddit and is constantly in flux to account for the accuracy of different sources in different windows. It makes for a decent rule of thumb but is by no means dispositive of anything, can fail to take into account nuances, and has little to say about lesser known journos.

I never paid much attention to it because over time I've established my own idea of who is reliable and who isn't, but having looked at it closely recently, as impressive and detailed as it is, I think there's a hell of a lot of inaccuracies.

But then again, it depends on each club I suppose. The Sun for example is like Tier 5 on there but they have a decent record with our transfer news, and at least better than some of the outlets listed in higher tiers.
The Tier system is just another way to keep the Reddit hive mind going imo, people look down on any source lower than 2, but a lot of the time it’s the lower down sources that break news first. The Tier’s reliability varies from club to club tbh, and for us I wouldn’t pay it too much attention.

It’s funny, on reddit I’ve been downvoted to oblivion for defending ITKs a couple of times, most recently last night ?

The most bizarre thing about this rumour for sure is the fact that it just isn't commented on in England. Like, not even a single denial.
Paul Brown has been reporting it, just remembered. I think he’s been pretty open about Ndombele, Clarke and Lo Celso as well.

At the end of the day he writes for the Daily Star and his article seemed like a copy of the AS article.

Multiple ITKs have gotten in on it, no JJ or Ally Gold telling us it’s BS and multiple tier 2 type sources in Spain reporting it.

And Dan KP retweeting reports out of Spain that Ceballos has been convinced by Poch.

What has Dan Ashcroft said though?

The Daily Star is almost as bad as the Express and Metro. I’d be very sceptical of believing anything read in it.

Sign Ceballos and Lo Celso and our midfield options are amazing. Of course Eriksen would be a miss but the style of player we would have in the squad would be great.

Exactly this, we would have a number of midfield players capable of playing the killer pass and opening up a tight defence. Yes Eriksen can do that, but as teams know he’s our main playmaker they can snuff him out of games. Having multiple creative players makes that very difficult.

Got to get them through the door though.

That’s why City are so lethal.... Silva x 2, Sterling and Aguero, even De Jesus when he plays... they’re all very quick footed and a nightmare to both mark and challenge. Doubling up on one player is do-able eg Eriksen but trying to neutralise 3-4 quick footed players is impossible hence why City score goals for fun. On the pitch offensively they’re superb but defensively they have frailties, these however are rarely exposed because they’re dominate 90% + of their games. This is what we should be aspiring to.

I can assure you our interest is real. Weather we end up getting him is another issue.

Cheers Val. Really like the look of him and think it'd be great to have more technical players to call upon. If we get him and Lo Celso to replace Eriksen I think we've played it very well.

I personally think Winks has now replaced Dier in that area of the pitch. The role in centre midfield has changed now largely because of the high press. The deeper midfielder needs to be comfortable facing side on or back to goal. Dier can't play that way but Winks does it well. He can turn in small spaces and pass the ball out from midfield under pressure. Dier needs to be facing forward with a picture in front of him. I actually think the way the game has evolved he will suit playing centre back. From there he can play more facing forward. I would not be surprised if Dier replaces Toby at the back. In that case Ceballos would compete with Winks.

At his very best Dier was fantastic problem is his level has dropped. He was perfect for the 4231 as he could slip into the back
I like Ceballos but if we're also getting Lo Celso, I hope signing him wouldn't mean that we didn't also go for a quicker, more attacking forward as well. It'd be great to have a similar midfield to Liverpool and City but their players have the likes of Mane, Salah, Sterling, Jesus and Mahrez as options for the out-ball.

I don't think we can go in to next season with only Son and Lucas again, as much as I love them.
I really do think we should be looking at an u21 attacker to compliment the squad and not affect the homegrown numbers

Alasdair Gold confirms we are interested.

Bit more from an actual article:

https://www.football.london/tottenh...ws/ceballos-lo-celso-sessegnon-state-16550578

Then there is Real Madrid's Dani Ceballos. football.london understands there is serious interest from Spurs in the 22-year-old midfielder, who is also thought to be keen on a move to Spurs.

However, the complications in the deal arise from a belief in his homeland that the player only wants a loan move away for a year before seeing what his future holds in Madrid.

Tottenham are unlikely to sanction any loan move for him unless it contains an option for them to make the deal permanent next summer as Pochettino would not want to block other Spurs players' progress for a passer-by in the team who isn't in it for the long haul.

There is another theory in the midfield merry-go-round in that Betis are also keen on bringing Ceballos back to the club where he made his first strides as a professional player before leaving for Madrid.

With Tottenham looking at both their player Lo Celso and their reported target Ceballos it could provide for some interesting dialogue between the three club's hierarchies in the coming weeks.
