Lots of paper talk about Arsenal wanting him. Good chance to keep them on the end of a fishing line and take their eyes off other possible transfers.
Or they become desperate because of their failings this window, and decide to reinforce where they are weakest with one of the leagues best players, within their 'budget' and offer him silly money on a 3 year deal, taking away a key asset from their biggest rival.

I've seen it all in football and would not write this off completely.

Toby to the Goons? Ugh, don't want to think about it. Instantly strengthens their defence, which is the weakest part of their squad.

How ? He has a £25m release clause irrespective of purchaser.

Arsenal would have to pay more as they'd need to pay in installments. I did read that the clause even stipulates "any club but Arsenal" can activate it. It's a bullshit link from Ian McGarry seemingly - don't know why people give it time of day.

I wouldn't put that level of pettiness past Levy, and I love him for it.

As with all PL based Belgians, the best ITK going is Kristof Terreur on twitter, and he hasn't mentioned it.

I like Toby. He's developed into an outstanding CB, with an excellent ability to read the game, and is a leader at the back.

I'm not sure I buy the Arsenal links, but let's look at the pros & cons from his perspective.

1) Presumably he'd be paid a huge salary. But unless it would completely mess up our squad's wage structure, I can't see why we couldn't & wouldn't match it.

2) He'd be playing Europa League instead of Champions League.

3) He would sacrifice the love of Spurs fans for hatred & abuse, and immediatey be called "the new Judas".

4) He'd have to endure Count Dracula's team talks and OCD training methods.

Hmmmm. Unless he's a complete mercenary, Arsenal is surely the worst of all possible options for him.

This link could be Toby's entourage trying to find his salary market level, before discovering if we're prepared to match it.

I actually think that this Arsenal thing has got legs given the ITK from Herc yesterday evening that was then quickly edited to remove the 'Toby' part from it. Didn't it originally say 'Toby (Grrrr)'. And the it was quickly edited to remove any mention of Toby. My gut feeling tells me he's off to arsenal or possibly Liverpool.

Not a hope he'll go there. Sure I only saw yesterday on twitter he liked that vid of Tracey Crouch slagging of arsenal:ROFLMAO:

Like Eriksen he'll only go if the right club comes in for him.

Not sure where this arsenal stuff has come from and certainly not something I've heard.
I'd be surprised if he is here to start the new season though as little has changed behind the scenes.

I still think he'll end up in Manchester, not sure blue or red though.

Yeah i find it really hard to fathom why they are both fighting it out over Harry maguire when they could have Toby at a third of the price.

I hope he stays but if he has to go I'd like to think he is a little more ambitious than moving to a Arsenal...

Probably because Maguire is that bit younger mate.

Maybe the deal just isn't as great as it seems or Toby just isn't that highly rated by other teams. Its very rare for big teams to go for older players nowadays..Juve do for a select few and when Mourinho was in the market, he would. Apart from that, everyone buys young and Utd have joined the crew. If Utd wouldn't sign him whilst Jose was there, not a hope now imo.

The options seem really limited to me with very few clubs being a step up, interested in a CB and not holding a youth first policy.
