So you're saying they have a problem with their netspend of 30 million because they signed Lo Celso and the solution is to sell Lo Celso?
If they want to sign extra players. They were in the running for EL when they completed the permanent move but since they missed out they’re going to be looking at the profit margin to improve their squad

Maybe Betis are getting their purchases done, before they get a large wedge in?
If DL is still negotiating, as said in the Ndombele article as of yesterday, it seems odd that the media are saying it's off today and Betis are being linked with large (by their standards) signings.

Just thinking out loud.

Yeah if they sign players its a completely different scenario but I don't think we can use their current netspend as justification to sell Lo Celso considering he is the cause of said netspend.

There haven't been many suggestions that Betis are adamant to keep him IIRC. I think they expected to sell him for a big profit this window and use the money on 2-3 players.

Think there was something about his wages going through the roof now he's on a permanent too.

I think it's slightly different to say Zaha where I fully understand why Palace want stupid money.

If that's the case it's true it could simply be posturing from Betis part as well, hence the poker ITK from hercules(?)

Yes I believe so. I'm sure they'd be happy to keep GLC but I get the impression they are open to selling him.

I would say it’s fundamentally this.

Same applied with Jean Lucas to Lyon.

Whatever they get for him won't be a bad return on a two month turnaround, as for the 25% sell on clause that's of no interest to us, they could have got him without that but they'd have had to pay double what they did so why should we take that into account.
I still think the fact that they'll make millions for doing pretty much fuck all in a few months will bring them to the deal.

I completely want who Poch wants, I couldn’t care less if I don’t rate him as long as MP does.

Absolutely spot on. We all see things in players we like or dislike and can argue the toss over the worth of potential signings until the cows come home, but the only opinion that matters is Pochs' and once a player has been signed we should all back him and the team to the hilt. Which i'm sure we will.

When are people going to understand that it's not how good a player is that sets the price but what the player is worth to the selling club?

Lo Celso has a 25% sell on clause to PSG which instantly makes him more expensive and he's so good and invaluable to Betis that it's almost impossible for them to replace him like for like. No matter who comes in instead of GLC will be a step down for them and thus they want a big pay day to make sure that they can sufficiently strengthen other areas of the team as well so they can keep moving upwards.

I can definitely understand why they are demanding 88m in todays market.
I don’t think he’s worth that and players are also worth what they are worth to the buying club.
So I’d say Levy thinks the same as me and Betis maybe think from your angle.
88m is not what he is worth and if we get him it’ll be for less than that.
I’d say 70/75m tops and that will be with add-ons. Or it won’t happen between Betis and Spurs.

Opinions are good and no opinions are good in democracy you don't have to read any opinions either

It's a perfectly cromulent point.

I feel like we're trying to vindicate a netspend argument to justify our means of wanting them to be in a position of needing to sell. They wouldn't have signed him earlier this year if they didn't have the money upfront when europe was still in the balance, whether they go onto to sign new players is a different matter.

I’m not suggesting he is. He is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for him.

I’m just saying you can not judge a player on a tournament alone, full stop.
Ah I see, the straw man you used was amazing, good work.

Or they knew that he will be wanted by bigger clubs and they want to make cash? Something like Jovic and Frankfurt.

They can make a lot of money from their perspective from him.

Yeah to be fair that could well be possible, I don't know the financial situation of Betis but that could be a risk worth taking for them and also why Levy might have some leverage in playing a game of chicken with them, I hope so, especially as you've said if they want to add players and I think clubs of that level are better served selling a top player and reinvesting in 2-3 key positions.
