I was talking to Daniel Taylor of the guardian last night and he hates that visiting Tottenham. He finds it so aggressive and intimidating and a lot of other journalists have the same view. He was talking about the walk from seven sisters and all the pubs full of us making loads of noise.

I’d never thought of it before, but it forms how the journalists see us apparently. I thought it worth posting as it might reflect how some of them write about us like they do.

I was mainly talking to him about Forest so didn’t really have a chance to get into it with him about us apart from that. Not that he covers us of course.
Pathetic, it’s North London not downtown Mogadishu.

Not a massive fan of the Tottenham area, but the fact that it makes soft Guardian journalists uncomfortable makes me love it that little bit more.

If that’s true shows how pampered a lot of them are, no wonder we have such a divide between rich and poor if this is what they are thinking.

Has he not heard of the overground from Tottenham Hale to Northumberland Park then? Only takes 10mins to walk to the ground from there. Better class of punter on the overground too. TfL itk sorts. Nice bunch.

You would think they could jump into a cab or uber and put it in expenses ?

Two type of journalist weaklings.

The Mail, posh boys who can afford that, the Guardian, middle class parents but most likely broke as fuck. Both sets unable to relate to the poor in inner cities, one able to afford to distance themselves, the other not so much.

That’s a bit of a sweeping statement. He was a nice guy actually and wasn’t talking about the Tottenham area and people there, just what it was like on match days (obviously I don’t agree).

Seemed miles away from the likes of the arrogant Sunday supplement lot, which is a good thing if you ask me.

Fair enough.

I suppose it's a disguised pop at spurs as a club and he can't find anything to directly have a pop at so he uses this oblique avenue sad sad man.

What is getting on my pip is that at least four different pundits have said about Maxi Gomez / Sessegnon / Clark / Arons .that "they would be mad to join spurs" .
Among the reasons (too soon). (will not get playing time ). ( you will never play because of Kane) (its the wrong fit). what is it with these pundits and trying to put them off of signing for spurs.
The ultimate insult is Danny Mills saying " spurs offer for clark is too low and an insult to supporters " and that basically Levy was trying to get Clark on the cheap.
Well pardon me but is that not what every club does which is pay as little as possible for new signings and not to say "oh I must pay over the top for this player" Danny Mills an idiot who said that spurs had drawn too many games last season and we were a club that I believe only drew one game all season. All these pundits do little or no research because that would take effort and ability and that is something that almost all pundits lack . their views are based on the latest general perception because too actually study and find real facts takes work and time and that is something most pundits simply will not commit to.

Didn't Mills also say he wasnt good enough for Spurs? Saying that he hadn't started enough games do be deemed a good player? Yet we're not offering enough so as to be insulting???

I've had a few mates say pretty much the same thing. They don't like coming to Spurs, it's intimidating. TBH, for some people the place is intimidating at any time :D

Maybe its the environment I have grown up in but I have never been on match day or non match day afraid in Tottenham.

Although bizzarily I find it quite funny, like we are some bad arse place.

I grew up in rural Norfolk and have never felt the slightest bit intimidated In Tottenham. I know there are some properly rough bits, but what most of us see as match-going outsiders is shabby at worst. In fact, the area immediately around the Antwerp Arms is positively nice!

Personally I quite like Tottenham (football aside), has quite a bit of character. I get it has poverty which is a shame but there is a lot of good in the place.

Nope, you're completely wrong on that I'm afraid, if you're responding to my posts (if not hen please ignore me!). He had nothing but admiration for us as a club.

Even forty years ago when we first moved just marginally out of London I was astonished at how many intelligent people were afraid of London. Perception is a weird things. Sure in any place there are areas to avoid and seeing people not like yourself is difficult for many people. Personally I find rural communities very scary and can't wait to be back in the safety of London

People are sometimes very sly and praising the club on one hand and then having a pop ay the area that is the high road is my point .
If you want to praise the club then do so but you do not have to add the bit about the area because its irrelevant.
There are many grounds that I have been to that I have found the surrounding area intimidating like Liverpool/Everton/Man united/Leeds./glasgow/ but that is not the clubs fault or responsiblety .To mention areas around grounds in the way this man has is trite and his motive in doing so is as I say He praises the club but for some reason brings the surrounding area to mitigate his praise.

I used to have trouble understanding that attitude as it occured to me that I was one of the people that they were presumably scared of because of where I came from yet I'm one of the lovliest people you could wish to meet.
To be fair I guess there are plenty of pubs along the High road between Seven Sisters and the Spurs.
