Thank god that wasn't a handball right before the final whistle. That would have brought VAR to the highest levels of absurdity.

Such a harsh harsh penalty, so close to her and hit so hard, her arms weren't wildly out, they looked in a realistically natural position. Crazy that it seems you have to pin your arms right by your side the box in what is such an unnatural position to have them.

Fucking shit way to decide a game.

Rubbish rule, just like CL final.

Way to ruin the game, if I was a player next season I'd just aim for the arm of a player in the pen area

100% pen even without VAR or the new interpretation of the rules.

Heartbreaking for Japan though as they’ve battered the Dutch in the last 15mins. Have to admit to having a soft spot for the Dutch though just for the fans

To go out on that decision ain't right. It might be the new rule, but it's bullshit.

It's not new. It was a penalty all day long!
The ball was going in the goal! But I've only seen it once!

Japans fault i suppose, they had so many good chances, so close, and you cant afford not to take them. So Japan end up being suckered by the inferior team.

Interestingly only 1 non-european team left now, and no surprise thats the usa. Going forward that'll make womens european football reach ever higher standards by the next world cup.
