No that would be worse because there's no way we'd pay Bale 500-600k a week.

Don't suppose there's any chance that the mega millionaire Bale would want to give anything back to the club and supporters who catapaulted him into the spotlight. Nah, thought not.

If he’s released on a free, they’ll be paying him off anyway. Anything he earns from his new club would be on top of that.

Also, it’s the express. So it’s bollocks.

According to Hotspur Related it's in the Times as well:

If you read The Express story it literally says "According to The Times" in like the first few sentences. The Express is not reporting this story they are repeating The Times.

Also The Times article is by Duncan Castles whose main exclusives include being in love with Jose Mourinho and hating us.

Ultimately Madrid won’t be able to get rid of all of Bales wages because that would require another club to take on all of Bale’s wages in all likelihood. Then it becomes a case of how much they’d be willing to write off.

For instance, if he’s earning £20m per year he wants to join THFC, but the best we offer him is paying him £10m per year (what we pay Harry), would Madrid be happy to write off the remaining £30m on his contract because they see it as £30m saved rather than wasted? I think they would.

Way too injury prone to take on a permanent contact IMO. Loan would make a lot more sense so that if he falls to bits they can have him back.

Surely if Madrid 'sell' him then Bale's contract with Madrid ends.
Hence the available on a free. Just get him off the books.

It's then up to Bale and co to agree a new contract with the new club.

If true about free for bale then surely a huge signing fee to make up for wage cut should be doable

No he's not going to drop his wages from 600k to 200k. His agent confirmed as much.

We could offer him similar wages as Kane, a huge joining fee as well as all the money he earns from his sponsors.

I actually think a free transfer is a worse deal for us, with a 2 year loan being the dream. Free transfer means you have to offer him a 3-4 year deal, which means you are more exposed should his injury record continue or get worse. It also means he officially enters our pay structure which cause issues. I think a loan mitigates both issues.

I wonder if this is their last chance of getting a superclub to take all of his wages on before having to get round a table with Levy and Barnett and figure out how to slice the liability of his massive wages 3 ways into a loan deal.

Unless of course said free transfer is more accurately Madrid paying him off a % of his wages to rip up his contract as is being suggested with Alexis Sanchez.

But that’s my point, if they just stick him on a free try then need to pay up three years worth of contract. I can’t see them spending the transfer fee of a top class player just to get him off their books, more likely is that they sell the remaining three years of his contract to the club willing to pay as large a chunk of it as possible as at this stage they’d see it as saving some money rather than losing all that money.

Unfortunately for them, Zidane in all his wisdom has left Madrid in a very real position of potentially burning an inordinate amount of money. Their options seem to be, pay all his wages with him not playing for anybody, including Madrid, or pay a chunk of his wages with Bale playing for another club in a different league.

Express REAL MADRID are reportedly ready to let Gareth Bale leave on a free transfer amid links to Manchester United and Tottenham.

Times so keen are Real to get rid of the 29-year-old, they may be ready to let him go for FREE.

Seems like the Express jumping the gun somewhat again.

Great if it comes to fruition, but may and will are totally different where I come from.

Sure, it offers a raised hope, but by no means a nailed on certainty of happening.

I'll get excited when a reputable source actually declares he can leave for free.

Sorry, just my take.

He's played in 42 matches this season, and some of the matches he's missed have simply been because Zidane won't pick him.
