LEICESTER STEPPING UP TIELEMANS DEAL

Fears that Manchester United and Tottenham may make a move for Youri Tielemans have prompted Leicester City to push for a quick deal with Monaco to secure his signature, Sky Sports News understands.

Leicester are wary of getting involved in a bidding war for the Belgian midfielder, but are aware that his form while on loan at the King Power Stadium this season has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs.

It’s thought Tielemans is keen on a permanent move to Leicester, and has been impressed by new manager Brendan Rodgers.

His parent club, Monaco, had Leicester’s midfielder Adrian Silva on loan this season, and they’re keen to solidify his switch. But we’ve been told that won’t stop them seeking the best price they can for Tielemans, and so they will welcome interest from elsewhere.

I'd like Tielemans but that reads to me as Monaco saying "pay up Leicester" rather than we are seriously interested.

Given the choice I don't see any way he'd choose Leicester over us but there again I'm not sure we are interested anyway.

Pity we aren’t in for him. I’d prefer him over Gomes but N’Dombele is the pipe dream for a centre mid.

Think we definitely need more than 1 so I’d say the hope can still be alive.
Definitely. Just assuming after the ITK saying Poch passed up in Jan makes me doubt a move for him. Although it’s been mentioned that Poch turned down the move due to no option to buy. Could well be a different case now.

I'd love him. There's certain things in his game I don't like, but I think he can be coached to fix things. He has a few qualities that few in our squad have or could hope to.

This would be a really smart signing, he’s PL-proven now too.

Also young and relatively inexpensive and Belgian - everything Levy loves.

The notion of another club worried about a bidding war with us is somewhat amusing. He's done well at Leicester and adapted quickly. I hope we're in for him

I was slightly frustrated we did not go for him on loan in January but will be really annoyed if he signs for Leicester this summer. Looks a great prospect and in a position we desperately need.

Tielemans would serve as a good replacement for Eriksen. Ndombele is not a Eriksen type of player. Ndombele would replace Dembele.

So Leicester regularly played Ndidi as a holding CM, Maddison as the more creative number 10 in the Eriksen mould, and Tielemans in a number 8 'all round CM' position.

I think...:cautious:

From what I've seen Maddison is the Dele Alli of Spurs (on the wing) and Tielemans is the number 10 in a 4-3-3. They usually play with 4-1-4-1 with the both of them in the middle.

Looks a good player and perhaps chose Leicester to guarantee starts and prove himself. Would be a useful addition to the squad at the least

The January deal was a loan with no option to buy, that would be basically raising Monaco's youth for them. That wouldn't have been a good deal for us. He flopped in France, and it was a huge surprise he hit the ground running so quickly in the PL. Can't fault Levy/Poch for passing this one up.

There is no number 10 in a 4-3-3, but yeah, he's more of a creative playmaker than number 10. More of a Winks than an Eriksen.

I read here http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/ind...t-scouting-thread.135503/page-93#post-6244918 JJetset's reply on Tielemans. Poch didn't want him and based on the context, because he doesn't want him at all. I might be wrong, but I still think this is what Jjetset meant.

I realise that (hence my comment about being slightly frustrated) but given our lack of midfield options it would have made sense to look to improve this even if it would have been just for the remainder of this season. The kid starts for an all star Belgium team on a regular basis so was hardly a massive risk.
