You want a signing before the end of May?
What’s funny about that? Clubs have already been buying players for the summer. Chelsea agreed one in January ffs. Bayern have at least two top class players agreed. Deals can be done. If we get a win tomorrow we should be greasing agents the very next day imo.

Yes deals can be done but we're not exactly known for doing deals this early, the club's who pay top dollar are. I'd love it if we were able to get one or two this month or early June but it is unlikely.

Agreed and to bring this on topic....

When (if) we start to do this it'll be a hugely positive sign that Levy's nostrils have twitched and he's finally smelling the coffee. The way transfers are done is evolving, the last minute deadline day stuff is slowly being taken out of the equation and replaced by getting it done early, sometimes up to a season in advance. If Tyrion Lannister started to do this it'd be hugely encouraging :D

Agreed. One of our best signings this century - Modric - was signed in April. Seems like we’ve lost the knack of doing this sort of forward planning. Either that or we’re not prepared to / can’t afford to pay the agents off to get the deals done.

I bloody hope not. Not unless the replacement is of the very VERY highest quality. Without wanting to make this into a Hugo thread, we've fish to fry in more pressing areas of the squad before we come to him.
Agreed.

I suddenly have this image of Pochettino and Lamela recreating that fateful scene from Old Yeller.

Evolving teams was one of Fergie's greatest strengths. He would jettison players before they were totally over the hill and was rarely wrong with who he got rid of and replaced them with (Stam being an exception).
This is now the next big step in Poch's evolution as a manager, to sell established players and produce a new team with his all his philosophies.

« Ten months ago it was difficult to guess [how they would do] and, of course, there were people that were outside who were thinking it’s going to be a terrible season, a difficult season »

If he came on here he would see that people on the « inside » were and still are saying that !!

Perhaps such a sale would be Sissoko with his value having sky rocketed after his very good season but with his contract needing renewing and his age creeping up ?

That makes sense, but would be a shame with his excellent form this season, considering we had to sit through 2 seasons of crap first.

It’s a valid point but I believe Moussa is needed next season. He keeps this form going and he’ll start every game next term no matter who we might bring in.
