Really don't understand the clamour for Janssen, there's a reason why Poch doesn't pick him.

Don't you think my reasoning is valid then? Prove he has a future or prove he's worth buying? The guy's been injured for most of his time with us, who's to say Poch hasn't finally got him right? All the info we got when we bought Janssen was that he was Poch's choice, so he must have seen something about him that persuaded him that £17m would be well spent on him.

Huge difference making those mistakes at right wing back with three centre backs in place to cover him, or making them the moment someone bursts into the box.

Not overly, I just don’t mind speaking sense even when sense is unpopular.

Surely ‘dropped’ implies he’s first choice. He’s not, so therefore all I want, when all players more suited than him are available, is for him not to be prematurely promoted ahead of them.

And no, I don’t want him sold, I rate him very highly, but I don’t think he’s ready and don’t think high pressure games during which a costly mistake will have a far bigger impact on both our season and his confidence are appropriate for giving him ‘learning time’, particularly with our squad decimated by injuries. We need as many of our experienced players out there as possible.

Foyth can play when we’re on form with our key players fit by and large, and be built up to being thrown into the pressure cooker. Right now we have two of the vest centre backs in the league and another high quality centre back (with a World Cup campaign behind him) available, there’s no reason to put this kind of responsibility on a kid who has a rash moment for every classy moment.

Yes, he was fantastic against Chelsea at home. We were on great form at the point, Chelsea being our eighth win in nine league games, exactly the circumstances where you can give a young player a learning experience against high level opposition without overly risking the points.

Dude we're playing Brighton for God's sake lol they'll leave one up front feeding off scraps. If you can't play Foyth in a match like this at home nonetheless then when can you play him?

Mate he's crap, he's had his time with us and it's evident he's nowhere near good enough. We don't need to put him in the shop window because come summer we will sell him regardless.

I know everyone will disagree, but I'd like to see Janssen and Llorente up top together. Brighton aren't going to be coming at us, so I'd keep Son and Lucas on the bench unless we're really struggling late on. Vincent can play those little one twos pretty well, and a team that bus parks would mean his comparative lack of pace wouldn't be a problem. And Fernando would be ideal in the box, both with knockdowns and goal attempts. Son and Lucas will be needed against West Ham, and we can't afford them to get injured. Plus whether he has a future with us, or he's going to be sold, VJ needs to be in the shop window. No one's going for him if they don't see him play.
I don't think we should worry too much about protecting players at this stage or whether we can get an extra £500,000 for VJ. If we win this game we're effectively 4/5 pts clear taking into account our GD. At this stage that would be absolutely massive. We can't risk throwing that away over hypotheticals and Vincent Fucking Janssen.

I really want to see some Arsenal Chelsea fans faces when we score tonight. Its gonna be a little jab to the heart every goal ha ha.
Lovely.
I'm worryingly over confident for this match for some reason.
Maybe its the stadium, our cl result. I dont know but we've got this :)

It's nothing to do with the amount of players in their half lol ??

The point of playing a back 3 is to allow our wing backs to stretch play which is what you need to do if you're playing a team who bank up. Having wide players will help in pulling their defensive shape out of position. The wingers can stay up the pitch as they are being covered by the wide cb's when they defend so they don't need to rush back.

Your not reading what i am saying are you ? we can still have the full backs pushed up and still play with 2 forwards, so 2-4-2-2 when attacking, You say "The wingers can stay up as they are being covered by the CB'S" so that means one against one with there CF and our CB, OK got ya. Now your calling them winger's Lol, make up your mind because in your formation you had 3-4-1-2 implying the full backs were not pushing up too far. On another point regarding stretching play, we can still have the full backs pushing on in a back 4 the same as we can in a back 5 just as long as the def mid is aware of this.

This might help you understand a little better, this is our average positions against Huddersfield, Foyth and vertonghen covering wide areas so that the full backs can play further up the pitch which is key to breaking down a deep defence, need to stretch them. Our wing backs in that match KWP and Davies are almost playing in line with Eriksen, they're allowed to play that high because of how the defence is setup behind them.

So technically you're not playing 3 at the back even though you're lining up with that formation, it looks to me like a 2-4-3-1 as Jan was pretty much playing in midfield.

Also means that when we lose the ball Brighton will have a 1on1 but you'd fancy us to recover the ball quickly as Brighton's attacking play isn't their strength.

Why don't you start reading what i am saying, even in a back 4 the full backs can push up the same as in your diagram as long as the def mid is aware and as for saying Verts is playing in midfield is bollox as he is just in front of Foyth or is Foyth playing in midfield as well, lol

This is not a game.to play cautiously, as we know a Houghton side sets up to defend defend defend. Which, they have been pretty abysmal at lately.

Cm is the conundrum. Look forward to seeing what Poch does with the line up.

Gazzaniga

Trippier Toby Jan Davies (rest rose)

Wanyama Dele
Eriksen (CM / AM fluid)

Moura Son

Fernando

I'd like to see Eriksen playing those lovely passes into the feet of moura and son. From deeper positions to get a little creativity in the cm.areas. Dele is more suited to that box to box role.

Not a game to take lightly as they are playing for premier survival.

Lets not kid ourselves, Janssen was horrific in his season here, 2 goals in open play from 39 games

I think we need to be very careful with Wanyama right now. It's not ideal timing but I'd really like to see Foyth play in the DM role since I think he has the skill set to do it. He's got the composure and the passing ability and in many ways I'd say he probably lacks a bit of physicality to play CB. This is such a crucial game that it is a risk, but so is pitching Wanyama or Dier in there with the games we have coming up. No chance it will happen though.
