Deals can be done any time of the year. You just can’t transfer the registration and play for your new club until the window opens.

I’m throwing a street party when we finally sign someone. It’ll be like the late 70s/early 80s golden age of street parties when people called Bob and Pam would get inebriated beneath bunting and street lights and later, overcome by the occasion of the jubilee or wedding and emboldened by too many Bucks Fizz, Pam would flash her tits at
the neighbouring families

JJ on twitter today saying the club aren't actively working on deals (as you're not allowed to outside of the TW) but have picked out their targets and who they're looking to offload. Doesn't that seem pretty foolish and something that other clubs do?

I mean Real Madrid are actively working on their Hazard deal, announced Militao in March, Bayern announced Lucas Hernandez, etc.
We only seem to work on deals when the window is open! Surely Levy knows you can do everything in a signing other than having the player register for yourself outside the window!

Wasn't sure if he was saying that in regards to working on deals or to the Modric signing. Either way clubs are literally announcing transfers and aren't getting in trouble so don't know why we'd have to hide that. Besides I doubt UEFA officials are following along with JJ's twitter account.

Maybe to try to ensure we have a better chance of doing the deals before other clubs find out & screw us over?

There is obviously previous when it comes to such things.

New name to recommend.
Jan Hurtado, 19 yr old venezuelan striker. Plays for Gimnasia in Argentina.
Do people still think Palacios is going to Real Madrid? Seems far fetched to me at this point with the managerial shake ups and their limit on non-EU players.

Seems a bit of a bad egg, but a quality player.

Any ideas on Thiago Almada - linked to Citeh?

Ndombele would be a great signing but I'd be just as happy with Houssem Aouar who doesn't get nearly as much attention.

Bad egg?? Why?
I know people at River, and Palacios is one of the most professional players at the club.

Re Almada, looks good but nothing extraordinary from what I've seen of him
Not a good fit with the premier league imo

I know there is over two months until the window opens but for the club to not be "actively working on deals" does not sound very good at all. Deals can certainly be agreed upon and wrapped up before the window opens - happens all the time. This makes me think that we will spend most of the window haggling for lower prices on names we want, end up missing out on those said names, and ending up with cheap alternatives or nothing. Groundhog day basically.

Seriously, how can they not be working on deals after 18 months of not buying anyone? They really will never learn, huh?

This comment along with the ITK report about "opening the purse strings" for players like Grealish & Sessegnong makes me think absolutely nothing will change in regards to our transfer dealing. Would love to be proven wrong!

Which would be a pathetic way for CL semi-finalists finishing 3rd in the EPL with the highest ticket prices in the land to behave.

Almost like reaching the KO stages of UCL, having your highest points total in club history and then not buy a single player..

Assuming champions league football is achieved, there is little excuse for Levy to not leave our squad in a better position by the end of the window than it is at the start. He with no transfer spend in 18 months, the stadium open for business, and first hand evidence all season of how we need to mitigate against even the wrist injury crisis. To fail to reinforce where we are light (CM mainly) or upgrade where we are poor (both full backs) as well as replace those who can no longer be relied on would be disgraceful.
