After reading that handbags stuff between @heelspurs and BBLG.... It got me thinking.. Does Levy know what a Legend he is on some forums or this one for that matter...

I wonder if hes heard of BSoDL.

Unfair to group Dier with Rose and Lamela. He's obviously had his recent hip injury but he had appendicitis before and hasn't even been injury-prone.

Was mentioned solely because of sentimental attachment (that some of us do have) and purely as a precaution IF his injuries/layoffs have a more sinister, underlying issue behind them.

I'm easily one of the most vocal Dier supporters on here. (y)

I understand why one would prefer Bernardeschi, it's a logical target and hes a grafter. Dybala is a more mercurial talent and thus maybe not such an obvious fit for us. Not that we can afford ether. But I am a big fan of Dybala and loved watching him and Vazquez play together for Palermo. I truly believe Dybala is an exceptional talent who is capable of a lot more then he is currently offering. I also have no qualms about his ability to adapt to the pl. For me Allegri is completely the wrong manager for him and I just don't see their personalities match, were as Poch would be perfect for him I feel. Yes, I may be a little sentimental about him as I was sold on his ability when I saw him live In Palermo in his first season with the club. But even so, I think if he makes the right move to a club with the right manager he will fulfill his potential.

But as said, he's way too rich for our blood and I can understand why one would be sceptical considering his price tag and often inconsistent form. But for me I think he would add that extra flair we are lacking up front and, if managed correctly, could become a truly world class player. And he's left footed, can play across the front three and as a striker.
Brilliant response as expected. Justified your desire for a player with actual reasons and explanations. What is this sorcery? **** off GH.

It's great you mention Vazquez because I've seen a lot of him for Sevilla as I watch them a lot to get my MF fix. He has a little of the mercurial about him as well. I am not a big fan of 'mercurial' and it's ability to squander moves setup by Ever Banega. Not really sure we should be filling out our ranks with it either. And in particular wonder about his value to any team where he is not the center of play. But I definitely value your take on it and thanks for giving it.

btw Hatem Ben Arfa, whose considerable talents I appreciate, is free if you need a mercurial fix. :D

HG is a good way to go but subject to our budget it’s the most expensive option. In saying that I’d expect us to stand in better stead at attracting the better HG players than those aboard.

Any of:

Aarons, Sessegnon x 2, Kelly, Lewis, Wan-Bissaka, Grealish, Brooks, James, Sancho, Maddison? Chilwell will improve our squad.
James doesn't count as HG in CL.

out of existing group the 17 non home grown for next season:
Son, Eriksen, Moura, Fernando(!),
Sissoko, Wanyama, Dier
Davies, Foyth, Verts, Toby or Toby replacement
Hugo, Gazza, = 13

HG/ U21: Kane, Alli, Grealish, Sessegnon, Winks, Skipp, Amos
AWB, KWP, Rose, HG 3rd choice keeper = 11

Space for couple more

unsure what I says was misleading. Player openly said he had an offer on the table from us which he almost accepted, so unless you believe we would have got that far down the road without having all in place to pay for it, it’s pretty clear.
Are you? You replied to a financial claim and I asked you to quote/cite De Jong's statements that supported this which you then deflected by implying I was going all anti-Levy money rant. Here goes:
Probably, but I would be astonished if we have a positive net spend of £60 million.
We were prepared to spend that just on De Jong according to ITK
According to de Jong himself in fact
You have a quote of De Jong stating exact financials? Could you post it? Because if not then him just saying he was considering us does not corroborate financial claims by ITK. Just sayin
What's pretty clear is you make logical leaps in assuming you know what we offered and you cannot back it up with statements 'according to de Jong himself in fact'. Which is, in fact, not fact. You have conflated an interview with him saying he had an offer he considered with us to mean we offered 60M or such. And left that statement out there without substantiation. Misleading!

As for your condescending implications that I’m deflecting from a valid objection by posing an unsubstantiable counter, the irony here is that this is exactly what you did in the first place by sticking your fingers in your ears (thumb up your arse) in ignoring a far more tangible contribution than any itk could provide, verbatim direct from a player, because it didn’t fit the rhetoric you have bought into.
This means nothing. Quote de Jong saying our 60M offer was on the table. If you cannot then I am ignoring nothing as there is nothing to ignore. I buy into no rhetoric. In fact rhetoric is exactly what I'm tearing down here. If you meant a narrative that I slavishly follow then you would be wrong here as well.

I could understand if we were at 10 August and yet to make a signing, but the current season hasn’t even ended yet. Keep your power dry till you actually have reason for gripe.
No one's griping about anything my man. Can you quote me griping about NOT doing any transfers this summer? I bet you can't. Is that another misleading claim? Maybe you like to do things pre-mature but I prefer them right on time.

Just asking you to back your misleading claims up with a quote which you cannot thus you go on the purity attack. It's your move.

If FDJ said Spurs came large with a 60M bid then fair play. I'd be a happy fucker that we knew about the MF problem and were trying to do something about it. It would sadden me that all our eggs were in one basket but at least we came correct.

Edit: S77 and DH sorry I had to quote you as you have nothing to do with this but I wanted accuracy in the exchange.

Yeah, but even Levy would fail BBLG's super fandom purity test as he once said 'mistakes were made' or some such during the ST meeting. Bad Levy, bad bad Levy!

We get that trotted our every window though. As a club we are more attractive than we’ve ever been in recent times. If we can’t sign champions league level players now then there is a real problem.

I like us buying potential but our top players aren’t going to wait around for it to develop especially our foreign players. See Eriksen and TA as an example.

I know I'm a week behind on this but when Liverpool bought Mane from Southampton he was potential, when they signed Salah they bough potential, the same with Robinson. yes they all look great and have helped lift Liverpool eventually, but it wasn't as if Liverpool bought any of them at a time they where being challenged in the market by any other top team, and Liverpool however much people hate hearing it were a sleeping giant, their history makes ours pretty poor in comparison. they also have a top coach, that arrived at the club and has totally transformed the way they play. they have also had to pay way over the odds to fit the jigsaw.

Clever use of averaging.. haha

He's never scored over 10 goals in a season. This season included.

He's a winger. He's not expected to score ten goals a season. Ryan Giggs had 23 seasons as a premier league winger in some of the best sides in PL history and hit double figures twice. His average number of goals per season was five. Zaha is the main man at Palace, he's double marked in almost every game and he still manages to look dangerous in most games. He if played in a side with decent strikers he'd have a lot more assists then he has now.
